Uhrencup In Switzerland

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Crystal Palace will compete in the 55th edition of the Uhrencup in Switzerland this July, as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
Palace will face FC Luzern, a club in the top tier of Swiss football, at the Tissot Arena in Biel/Bienne on Tuesday 9th July 2019 at 20:00 CEST (19:00 BST), and BSC Young Boys, reigning Swiss Super League Champions, at Stadium Neufeld in Bern on Saturday 13th July 2019 at 15:00 CEST (14:00 BST).

The tournament features four teams – with each side playing two fixtures. Eintracht Frankfurt are the fourth side, but will not face Palace. The Uhrencup has been running since 1962 and the current champions are fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Shame it's not the French part for selfish reasons but this could be fun.

We really do try and select the most expensive parts of the world for pre-season, don't we?

Isn't beer/everything in Switzerland generally bloody expensive?

At least the tickets are only £8!

Visit Zurich quite often as my boy works there, eating out is very expensive but beer I found about the same as London.

Shocked how expensive the flights are, Switzerland is incredibly beautiful but I'm not sure I'd go there in the height of summer over other times of the year, prefer it with a bit of snow.

I can usually find a bargain but found nothing for this. The only cheap flight I've found for the 2nd game would be from Stansted to Strasbourg (meant to be nice) for £18 one way and then a 2/3 hour train from there to the game.

Be good to see if others can share any insight on how to get there cheaply, at the moment it's looking more expensive than a week in Majorca!

At 'only' 650 odd miles, I can see a lot (well sort of) driving it.

Dorking Eagles x 3 just doing the Saturday game in Bern. (Berne?)

Flying LHR>ZURICH with BA first thing on Saturday morning, and flying back on the Sunday. Flights (hand luggage only) worked out at 200quid return each.

Haven't decided if we'll book a hotel in Bern or Zurich for the Saturday night yet, whichever is best value will probably be the decider (Switzerland - good value, that's a laugh!)

Will want to book trains asap, but usually I find foreign train websites a nightmare, so if anyone gets the hang of it and can post links, helpful booking tips etc, then that would certainly be appreciated

On the German side of Basle might be an option for some . Great train links from Basle to anywhere in Switzerland . Flights are expensive though this late on.

Flights and hotel working out £330 each for 2 nights with a quick look. That’s without train journey from Basle

No I think my son drinks in cheap places . Most of our drinking was done in Richerswill where my son lives so a lot cheaper.

Yes unfortunately my stepson lives in a trendy part of Zurich 😀
The Fifa museum in Enge cost about £35 to get in and the bar underneath was the £7 a pint so you are probably right
