Unfortunately for those who like a good old double entendre we are not playing at the Wankdorf Stadium where the young Boys normally play but you could checkout the Kunstmuseum in Basel or Bern.

Even easier: trains leave Zurich airport at 18 & 46 minutes past the hour, nonstop to Bern. Journey time 1 hr 10 minutes. Not sure of the fare but you'll still need the Credit Suisse loan for dinner!

There is a big supermarket in Zurich airport. Quite reasonably priced if you want to grab a few things to eat. It's also near the escalators down to the train platforms. Trains are good value for money.

The Fifa museum in Enge cost about £35 to get in and at the bar it was the £7 a pint so you are probably right
Top tip; if you drink in the FIFA bar order a half, pay under the counter and you'll get a pint.

Bring your trunks as swimming in the fast flowing River Aare in Bern is a joy to behold and a must if you go there. The Bernese traditionally walk up stream from the centre and then float back down at 30mph, serious fun.

Get out of Basel as quickly as you can, dullest city in Switzerland unless you like pharmaceutical companies...

Was about to ask.

Flying into Basel early Friday morning, i assume from the above, it would be better just to head to Bern rather than staying in Basel?

I'll have to find the picture I took of a receipt the other summer in Lucerne. Coke and a coffee, one sandwich and a pastry. £55.

A lot of the locals would drive to Germany for their shopping. And probably a coffee at the same time.

I think it was lake Lucerne where my brother went for a Chinese. £75 for duck pancakes. Total meal for 4 was something nuts like £600 sans grog

He supports Chelsea though so he deserved it

They are. But £75 for 8 is hefty. And this was 10 or so years ago

This is an excellent shout. Granted it was back in 2002, but when I did the European u21 Champs with a couple of mates we spent a couple of nights in Weil am Rhein which was, from memory, only about ten minutes from Basel by train. So much cheaper!
