Not brilliant but never underestimate the power of the summer holidays, especially for us London and Surrey boys

I was at The University of Sheffield in the early to mid 80’s. Going up early tomorrow with middle son to take a trip down nostalgia avenue which may include Broomhill Tavern, Noah’s Ark in Crookes, The Fat Cat in Kelham Island and the Bar One in the Student Union if they let us in!!

I used to live up there with grandparents when a kid and often went to Bramall Lane when they had the cricket pitch there, happy days.

I absolutely loved it as a place to study. Being a country yokel who apart from those 3 years has only ever lived in the south and south west; it was such a friendly place. Like lots of little villages attached together. As you say my friend... happy days.

I was in Dore and Totley right next to the moors and we had the steam railway at the bottom of our garden which kept me occupied on many a day up there!

I'm looking forward to this, so much more appealing as opposed to the Arsenal's etc now.

Plenty of carparks a short distance from the ground, anywhere in the City Centre is only a 10-15 minute walk from the ground. Just remember the closer to town hall side of Sheffield the more expensive. Places like Eyre street (closer to the ground) are cheaper and there's a great little charity car park that's much cheaper on Milton Street). Plenty of people used to park in Waitrose but they've just installed ANPR cameras in the last month so do so at your own risk.

If you're doing the Supertram park and ride it would be much easier from the Halfway station rather than Meadowhall.
Anyone got any parking tips for those coming from the west? Coming back to London via Chester.

Park at Chesterfield station, you'll drive over the Peak District and be South-West of Sheffield Station. On your way back it is a 10 mile-ish drive back to the M1.
