Agree with all that. Knowing the bag rules, and that there will be metal detectors and to allow a little bit of time to walk all the way around to where the away entrances are all helps.

The upstairs concourse is a bit more civilised, the sausage rolls are huge and good value.

The whole place being cashless works well, and just go with the flow, there's 60,000 people so why the need to rush out, everyone will get home sooner or later.

I feel like going here though is like visiting the London version of 'Norwich' - it's not a tribal place really, everyone is really too nice. They are regarded as one of the 6 'big clubs' but have won almost bugger all in the last 25 years, and you get the feeling most of their regular fans (not the tourists in awe of the place) are just happy to be one of the 'big 6' - invited to the top table without ever really threatening to be truly successful. If they truly were a successful big club, more people would have reason to hate them for their win at all costs success. But they don't. "Runners up, Tottenham"

Interesting. I've always found Norwich fans quite unwelcoming although not in a violent way. East Anglian fans (and to a lesser extent those in the West Country) IMHO don't really tend to like us and are on the whole unfriendly. Some of the best fans in the last decade or two tend to be those from smaller towns in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Back in the 70s Spurs was one of the worst places to go for a young away fan.

Been to Norwich when we've beaten them in the last minute with a goal by a former Ipswich player (Kuqi) who celebrated wildly with a superman flying dive celebration, and they still don't say boo to a goose when we all leave together and walk around the ground with no room to move.

Or they spend all game booing and trying to provoke AJ with their 'he's a diver' agenda (despite having Darren Huckerby who did it even more) but no animosity whatsoever outside the ground.

Don't get me wrong, I remember a 'weekender' there in my early 20's when a Palace fan had a knife flashed at them on the Prince of Wales Road, but generally speaking it's a club with a high % of families and pensioners, and who are very keen to start up a conversation with you as visiting fans

Since Spurs went up to 62k capacity, the extra 24,000 (or whatever it is) are all ££££ corporates, and modern premier league fans. Old school Spurs fans are a diminishing percentage of the match attendance

We got into the long bar after the game with a quick sprint up the stairs past a steward.

They’ve got it absolutely spot on. 65m long bar. Around 100 bar staff. Loads of TVs with SSN and the City game. Loads of food outlets in there as well.

People were asked to move outside at 6.30, and they had an outside area as well where they could carry on. £4 a pint. Cheap soft drinks.

They have actually put the fans first in a lot of the design of the stadium and other clubs could learn from that. They’re not even that loud but the stadium is built to keep the noise in.

Probably my only real complaint of the ground not helped by the bar on the upper level not being advertised from ground level making it much quieter up there. Toilet entrances being either side of the crowded bar didn't help access to them. A nice touch was the two blokes walking round selling beer from 'deliveroo' style insulated backpacks on the concourse. A handy touch if you just wanted to down one after a long walk without a ten minute or more wait for the bar. Metal detectors were unusual but no grief although I'm not sure they were set for airport levels as I still had coins and some small metallic items on passing through clear.

Despite the clubs clear no bags and no left luggage policy about fifty yards from the away entrance was unofficial bag drop being operated behind the green fencing. Quite annoyingly this was £10 an item no doubt making a mint on people falling foul of the bag limit especially away fans.

Nice ground

Still amazed however they were able to add 25k capacity without a single improvement to the public transport infrastructure.

It makes the falmer look well connected ffs

We got there early to have a stroll around but got sent back to the bag drop off point. This pissed me off as it was the first time in a few years we've took a bag, then it took a while to find, then they charged me a tenner, and then, as the final insult, we spotted loads of palace fans in there with bags of a similar size.

Concourse was surprisingly tight, but the beer and food was good and there was no piss on the floor. That stadium is wasted on them though, we had reason to be a bit muted in comparison to usual away days, but we still done them for noise. Either way, the stadium was impressive.

Picking the damned bag up afterwards made us late, so we decided to go WHL to Liverpool Street... kinell!!! that queue!!!
