We dont want or need a horrible team just a player or two who goes into a challenge with the likes of Deeney and put his arse on the floor we let teams play they stop us by any means.

Iíve never seen such a powder puff Palace team. PVA and Andros are probably the worst culprits and never put their foot in.

I seriously canít work out why we donít battle more in the middle, especially when the ball is up in the air...we either donít bother challenging after a goal kick, or never attempt the second ball.

I wish we had a whole team of AWBís. I donít known what heís like in goal, but he probably is a step up from what weíve got

Pretty sure Big Nev sat in his goal, because he was so pissed off at his defence, rather than us tbf

Or players that get into the refs ear, run 20 yards to get involved when Wilf is being bullied, and have an element of gamesmanship nouse for a change.

After the 1990 FA Cup Final replay the Man United team refused to swap shirts with the players after the game, even refusing to open the dressing room door to them because of how they perceived we man handled them.

Sure, football has changed since the 1990s... Or maybe people just forget?

When we got promoted in 2013 we were a horrible team to play against. Jedi got sent off at West Ham for an elbow (I do not condone that behaviour) and generally we were physical as a team.

I am not advocating kicking the opposition off the park but we used to be up for it and now that team seems to be Watford. Fair play to them, if they can perform the 'dark arts' and get away with it. We'll see how it goes under VAR next season but that said we need to be more physical.

I don't like Deeney but everyone going on about what he said earlier in the season about taking turns in kicking Wilf. Was that really something we didn't suspect? Again, we used to rotate fouls under Pulis to avoid yellow cards. It isn't something new but maybe it isn't something our manager likes his players to do?

The difference between now and before is we never stayed in the top division long enough for us to taste our own medicine. We need to just 'man up' and give it back.
Utd were no saints in that final. They also booted Oldham off the park in the semi.

Murray was sent off in the wet sham game after scoring two goals and bullying their defenders.

We do need a minder or two. To protect our star players. A Stuart Pearce type of player would be ideal

If Michael Hughes had been playing on Saturday then Deeney would have found himself spectating from row Z. We need someone like him or Aki, or Jedi.

Agree with all this - what a lovely bunch of players we have - apart from Wilf they are all ďgood losersĒ - they will pose with your kids for a photo outside the ground without any problem

Roy is like Wenger - mutual respect for players, thoughtful and outwardly calm - the team reflects this. Itís not that they donít care - team spirit is great - but we lack a mean steak

Cabaye used to do that - well, for the first 70 minutes of course

And he properly wound Cleverley up when we beat Watford 1-0 at home a couple of seasons ago.

Agree but the worrying thing is a large % of fans have seen this and have been saying that's what we need for at least a season, particularly a minder for Wilf. If fans can identify this how comes the club haven't? That worries me

Rowe was then replaced by Dick Graham, who wasted no time in signing Dickie Dowsett and Cliff Holton. He got his players fitter than they had been for years and introduced a more direct and robust style of play. The new regime worked because we finished the season in mid-table and the following year we won promotion to Division Two.

All the more successful sides have a hard edge to their play. There is definitely such a thing as being too soft and I think we are guilty of that. Sometimes it is necessary to let the opposition know that we are not prepared to be bullied out of games.
You must be as old as me (80)thought i was the only poster that goes back to Arthur Rowe days, didn't you just love Cliff Holton?

Hi, I have a few years on you yet - I was 14 years old when Palace started their new Third Division adventure in '61. I think there might be a few of us on here of a similar vintage. Cliff Holton was my hero. The first time I saw him play though, he was wearing a Northampton shirt and he scored a hat-trick against us!

Couldn't agree more, totally spineless these last too games. As Damo said on twitter, we've lost our bite.

No strong leaders in the team and continued gentrification of the club makes us weak on the pitch and in the stands.

Need some balls back at the club as a whole.
