He only managed 12 goals in his second season, but then he only played 28 games.

Still a million miles off Benteke standards!

He looks pretty good other than in the air, where he seems rather timid. Unfortunately that's pretty damned important at this level. I think he could give more there and will be a solid player in the long run.

When you consider what we paid for him and yet questioned signing someone like Bradley Dack it is beggars belief regarding our scouting system and assessment. Obviously different positions but it’s pretty obvious who would’ve at least made some impact by now.

Felt quite sorry for the bloke last night

So out of his depth, even against a reserve championship defence.

Dougie needs to sit down with him and his agent and look to move on in January.

He actually tries harder now and is more of a team player than before, but any goal scoring ability has gone. Last year he actually had the third highest number of assists at the club.

I also seem to recall Diego Costa being total crap in his last season.
Aguero, Messi, Ronaldo. All top level forwards. The thing they have in common? They wholly focus on attack, never track back. Here we expect them to run around like a headless chicken when their primary job isn’t to fill in for the midfield but be on the end of balls. I think our strike force this year is suffering from our midfield frailties that opened up when RLC and Cabaye left. Zaha and Townsend are in similar boats.

Just checked it was in La Liga last season. He scored 3 goals. He's scored none this year.
The absolute desperation of this post

Last season Costa didn’t play a game for Atlético Madrid until January, due to him joining from Chelsea outside of the transfer window. He scored 3 in La Liga, 2 in Copa Del Rey, and 2 more in the Europa League. That’s 7 goals from a total of 23 appearances.

He rounded off his season by scoring 3 times for Spain at the World Cup.

Benteke scored 3 in 31 appearances for us last season, and didn’t get selected for Belgium’s final World Cup squad.

You might as well be comparing Frank Sinatra with Frank Spencer.

Shame the way it's lòoking with Sorloth. Scandanavian players are often seen as brave, tough, hardy and competitive. The sort of qualities Iceland show as a team.

Sorloth has the build of a powerful centre forward but seems to lack the confidence or character required to be aggressive and succeed in the central striker role.

Is he a centre forward hungry to net goals or more suited as a North Sea trawlerman netting fish?

But that's not really true any more is it? Wilf gets that treatment and that's why the CF is expected to do the defensive shift. Andros in some games has had a double shift where he has been expected to almost play as the wide forward in a 3 but still defend like the narrow right midfielder which is a tough gig. That was why I was surprised he played yesterday but I guess Wilf was rested.

He has been very frustrating since joining, yes in his defence he has NOT had the regular games every player needs if he is expected to shine, unfortunately Sorloth never seems to grab the opportunity when chosen.
As an example prior to the Arsenal game he was poor in most games he played, then on Sunday he was good in doing exactly what you expect from a big Centre Forward and i expected him to cement a regular place for the forseeable future, then we see his inept performance again last night against very average opposition which probably showed his true ability and the problem we now face until the January window opens.
Currently the headache RH faces is, our strikers consist of Benteke a totally off form and now long term casualty striker, Connor Wickham returning after nearly 2 years out so when he reaches the level we need in the premiership is anybody's guess, Sorloth reasons as explained above, and finally Ayew where has it gone wrong with him? he looks a shadow of what we expected when he signed, is now a complete waste of space.
The only conclusion you can draw when struggling to score goals is it points to a long hard winter ahead if we are to survive and remain in the premiership, lets hope somehow we find the solution in January as relegation would be disastrous for CPFC.
