I don't know if he's good enough. I really have no idea. Can't see how anyone on here could yet say otherwise.

Desperate 2nd half of the season? All in all it was a very strong 2nd half of the season.

Agree we don’t really know how good is he is but he had already played a full season for his club and you would expect a player of his age and the league he came some sort of adjustment period. He also got an injury if I remember correctly. A good pre-season with the squad and we could hopefully have at least a half decent player.

I like what I've seen of Sørloth. I also thought that Wickham scored some good goals for us and was looking like a PL forward when he got injured. Benteke is just as likely to have another 15 goal season as he is to have another poor one. that said his over all performances playing as a sole forward were pretty good, especially in our unbeaten run to end the season.

I think we have a lot of flexability in attack now. We can play with Zaha and Townsend up front and with a narrow four in midfield. We can play with a single forward and a 5 man midfield with Zaha and Townsend wide. Now Sørloth and Wickham are back (along with Benteke) we can play with two powerful forwards, Zaha and Townsend on the wings and a holding midfielder (Luka) and an attacking midfielder in what would be our most agressive formation. We can switch to all three in a single game depending upon the circumstances.

With that in mind our greatest need is for a quality attacker who can play left or right and in a front two with Zaha or Townsend. We need an attacking midfielder if we don't re-sign RLC. We need to re-sign or replace Cabaye and Ward. A back up CB. Then we're sorted.

Yeah - that second half of the season was a right laugh. No worry at all about relegation.

Yes but Glenn is a natural goal scorer and Conor isn’t.

He can hit a spectacular goal and he does tend to score his goals in batches which gives the impression he is a goal machine. Unfortunately it is the gap between the goals which is a problem.

Interestingly he's gone back to fc midtjylland to hand out the league winners trophy. Seems like he's popular there. I do wonder if we will loan him out to one of the London championship clubs. QPR? Fulham if they mess up the playoffs?

Go and check what and where GM was playing at age 22.

The consensus is the January transfer window was a disaster. Be interesting to revisit that assumption in a couple of years time.

Why?

We needed players to come in an bolster a severely depleted squad fighting relegation

We got nobody of note for the second half of the season

The fact we stayed up is testament to Roy and the team

We needed players who would go straight into the team as we had desperate injuries so it was a disaster. Sorloth will come good but not certain on our Polish CH and our young midfielder left without playing.

And we still ended up as the 9th highest net spenders.

Stoke and Swansea spent more.

If Sorloth scores 10 plus goals next season and becomes a £20m plus player it would be interesting to re-visit indeed.

Totally agree with this.

Sorloth did ok when were desperately short of players for a few games, but as soon as the injured players returned he was nowhere near the match day squads. As for the other two, I will be staggered if either of them ever play for our first team.

The last couple of transfer windows have been shocking and it concerns me if we lose both cabaye & RLC.

We need a better or at least as good transfer window as Jan 17.

He was in he squad until he got injured wasn't he? I can't see how anyone other than the coaches and players would know how good he is at this point. Writing him off on that basis seems hasty.

My apologies, I forgot he got injured.

I really hope he becomes a good addition to the squad and we have unearthed a gem, but it was still a shocking transfer window given our position & injuries.
