He scored the goal that won us the game, it’s not often we say that about a palace striker (wilf excluded)!

Sorloth scored the winner and had a good alround game , Grew more confident as the match progressed , He will only get better , A better finisher than Benteke and links up well with those around him .

He doesn't need to be a Drogba nor Lewandowski just better than Benteke. And we won't find out that he is until he is given a proper 7 game or so run in the team which, please Roy, should now happen starting from this weekend.

Personally, if he's match fit, then I would give Ayew a go, on Saturday - We need something different to a 'big man' option, up front, IMO.
But if RH wants the same type of striker, them yes, give Sorloth a chance. After last season, Benteke really needed to make an early good impression and he hasn't.
In saying all that, because of his lack of goals, I would have thought RH, would have wanted Benteke in, last night, to lift his confidence and the fact he wasn't even on the bench, would suggest to me that RH is planning to play him, on Saturday

Scored a goal in a thrown together team. Well done I'd say.

Absolutely spot on. At present he just has to be better than Benteke to get in the team.

I fall roughly between the pro's and the anti's. Essentially I think there is a decent striker in there but he is a bit raw at the moment. He has plenty of assets, not least his height and strength. He also has bit of a selfish eye for goal (which is essential in any striker). His control is currently a bit hit and miss and his angles and runs need improvement but this is a big step up for him and he is going to have to learn more quickly.
Very difficult to know how he will develop but even if he does not become a starter or regular back up striker for us, any striker in the PL has a decent sell off value and we could easily make a profit on him. He is clearly not the finished article and his price tag reflected that. We just need to give him time.

In my family I appear to be the only one who hasn't written Sorloth off. Golf Boy wrote him off before he joined purely because the Danish league is shit and he didn't make it in the Dutch one (at 19). My old man saw him for 10 minutes v Liverpool and has been in a rage ever since (I think he likes a headless chicken). From what I've seen so far he's a developer, there's a decent player in there and it will take a season or two to come out, strength and knows where the goal is. He scored a good equaliser away to Chelsea last season only for that butt-hole Anthony Taylor to incorrectly rule it out.

People forget his age for some reason, but look at quality strikers and they don't flower until 24-25, so Sorloth should be no exception. Both Shearer and Wright, for example, scored very little if anything at his age. I think he'll come good but it won't be this season so you should all have more patience, maybe the patience some of you give Kai Kai, who has had full season loans. I do wonder if Sorloth had come through our academy you'd be giving him the same shit.

He reminds me of a centre half playing up front, pace and first/second touch isn't there but he wins the occasional header or holds up the ball. He has scored and is atleast putting himself about which is great. From what I have seen I'm not so sure he is an improvement on CB.

He needs more match time, for sure.

Plenty on here saying he may be a good PL player later on but not yet. How do they know? He needs to play matches with the first team in the PL to get used to the way they play. If he doesn't play PL games, how will he ever become a PL player? To win the lottery, you have to buy a ticket....

As mentioned in the player ratings thread - he's played for us without having our major attacking players behind him due to injuries. Now they're back, he should be given a chance to develop his understanding of the way we play when we have a full strength team.

Some saying he's not match fit - best way to get match fit is play matches.

Benteke is match fit and knows the team but is still not scoring.

Sorloth should be given a few games to adapt, and the next three versus Saints, Huddersfield and Newcastle are the perfect opportunity.

Also, here is a bit or perspective.

Last night Saido Berahino finally scored a goal. That was a 913 day goal drought.
As per the BBC
"The world when Berahino last scored
Then Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce had not yet replaced Roy Hodgson as England manager
Donald Trump had not yet secured the Republican party's nomination for the 2016 United States presidential election
The United Kingdom was still nearly four months away from a referendum on European Union membership
France's future World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe had scored only one senior goal for Monaco
Sunderland still had another season ahead of them in the Premier League, before back-to-back relegations to League One"

At a cost of £12m and a wage of £70,000 per week whilst in the PL. (It may have reduced since Stoke were relegated.) Stoke fans have every right to feel aggrieved about that.

Mental. It was a very good finish across the keeper on an acute angle and rifled in hard.

I bet he could've danced around the keeper doing keepy-uppies then overhead volleyed it into the top corner and you'd be moaning.

Are you blaming Berahino for Trump and Brexit? Tbf, it's as unbelievable as the truth, maybe he is to blame.

Yep. Who had heard on AWB before April now touted as an England player. Give the boy a chance, Benteke has had his.
