Many of the spots you see on this video - Tsuen Wan, Taikoo, Yuen Long - I either live now, have lived before or have relatives living now

I stand with Hong Kong, and I hope you will too. This is my home.

Union Jack and Stars-and-Stripes proud waved by people there.
I had heard about these attacks but not seen the footage.

Far from over this. It's like the Brown Shirts in Germany in the 1930's.

Amazing to think that Sanders still has a 7% chance of being president in 2021 - even after saying this stuff repeatedly.

Bear in mind the US flags are about supporting the HKDHR act in the US, socking one to the colonial "masters" who are hated, and supporting democracy (not sure US is the best current example, but any port in a storm).

Nothing like the brown shirts in Germany for me. Germany was ****ed after WWI, HK is rich and successful.

So much to like about Sanders, I'm sad his China knowledge (or deliberate views) are so shit.

Having looked at all the Dem party candidates today, Warren seem easily the best in terms of China understanding and (potential) policy.

Sure, they are doing the red, white and blue to draw attention, and it seems to work. They need all the luck going and to use any tool which helps.

I was chatting to a client earlier who mentioned the protests are re-escalating as the police killed three people at the train station but are denying it and the station is refusing to release cctv footage.

Nothing is "re-escalating". That's bollocks.
Police killed three - possible but unlikely.
The station in question in Prince Edward, where the police baton and tear gas people on a train with no provocation - see earlier video that shows this.
MTR corp, who own the subway system, are 75% government owned, and have acted like a gov agency.
True - they are refusing to release CCTV footage. On 31 Aug the station was shut for 2 full days with press pushed out, and no answers other than propaganda denials thus far.

In his defence I used the word ‘re-escalating’ and he said ‘there are no signs of it stopping because of incidents like ...’

I mis-quoted him - apologies.

My apologies Hpalace for being unnecessarily brusque, and no need for you to apologise.

We're off the back of the most violent weekend of protest to date, as the CCP, HK gov and its puppet HKPF double down on violent suppression and lawlessness.

All that has done is re-double determination to resist and win.

Today the HK Human Rights and Democracy Act (HKHRDA) has its congressional hearing. To view the link you have to Register or Login, including why it matters to everyone, not just those in HK:

Meanwhile HKers have taken to peaceful protest in their thousands every single day in dozens of shopping centres throughout the country to sing the rather catchy (if somewhat militaristic) de facto new national anthem composed just in the past few weeks:

Here's a brilliant version with a masked orchestra featuring mock tear gas:

A few images from the weekend.

1 - on Sat police stormed into shopping centres and arrested anyone they fancied. Including 11 year olds.

2, 3 - Sat/Sun brutal violence against young people, who often weren't even protesting but just resident near by or passing by. The grey-shirted one was brutally pepper-spayed in the face into the wounds he received from batons and having his face smashed into the ground just before this pic.

4 - just like on 21 July and multiple times since police collude with triads (here Fujian triads in North Point), probably paying them to attack anybody young looking then receive handshakes and protection from police (whilst arresting the victims)

Bloody hell! Some horrible stuff on Twitter today about police attacks on kids and the elderly, plus staged 'attacks' on the police. Seriously worrying for those out there.

Yep, kids as young as 10 getting arrested for the "crime" of being in a shopping centre with a laser pointer that you can buy at 3,000 stalls and shops in HK.

Lots of evidence of police/CCP actors chucking petrol bombs at police and police vehicles - dating back to before the first protest in early June it now emerges.

One week now until China national day, 70th anniversary of the founding of the CCP. Carnage is quite possible in HK.

Does normal life carry on away from the actual violence or is it tense all over ?

Life carries on, though people tense up just at the sight of a police van or officer, such is their level of unrestrained violence and lawlessness.

A lot of footage to choose from this weekend, but this takes the biscuit. Police drag a man (in yellow) into an alleyway then kick him unconscious, not realising they were being filmed:

Meanwhile Senior Superintendent Vasco Williams brazenly goes on TV to deny the police did anything wrong - dehumanising the victim by calling him "a yellow object", claiming the video is fake and that there's other videos showing nothing happened (which nobody is allowed to see of course).

And yes, this chap appears to be a Brit with the most ****ed-up worldview you could ever see, so desperate is he to justify the criminality of his employer. Here's some of his comments on LinkedIn (they're still there, easy enough to find):

And here's his senior colleague Francis Chan, also commenting on LinkedIn, with the classic CCP mantra of "we are right you are wrong, we are judge, jury and executioner", showing just how much of a busted flush the HKPF is:

Not sure what the solution is though. I support HK and don't like China at all because of they way they treat their people. But if Chinese or HK police violence is wrong, so is HK protesters violence. They need to find a non-violent path forwards. I think it would be possible, they need to reach out and connect to others ... Britain, EU, UN, Taiwan, India, Australia, USA etc ...
