It's only about 1 hour 10 mins long, and is mainly about what their were going through while they were stranded in the middle of the ocean.
Problem is - how does anyone know what they were going through, because they both got eaten?

The first two are pretty decent actors, the other is more of a stuntman and thus only appears in mindles action films.
As in (Tony) Leung Chiu-wai

He of In the mood for love, 2046, Infernal Affairs, Chungking Express, Hero, Bullet in the head, Hard Boiled (which had several scenes stolen from it for Infernal Affairs)

His acting range is amazing.

It is exceptionally good but uncomfortable viewing. All of the characters are truly horrible people.

Clive Owen puts in an amazing performance whereas Jude Law is the weak link.

There's some comedy in the first half hour but then the film becomes very dark. It is refreshing to see a film where all of the characters are deeply flawed and there's no hero figure - or even anyone to empathise with.

Was weird to hear Julia Roberts swearing her head off too!
This was the last thing I saw at the cinema. I enjoyed it, and thought pretty much the same as you. I went with my wife, as she wanted to see it (thinking maybe it'd be a chick flick as it contrains Roberts), however I enjoyed it, whereas she didnt!

Eternal Sunshine - 7.5. Nice film, but I feel a second watch will probably be enough. Sadly hyped up like all Hollywood movies that have the tenacity to be a bit different, cue American Beauty. Probably take an oscar or two.

The Village - 5, just unsatisfying and (spoiler alert) what father in his right mind would send a blind daughter to a world beyond her comprehension. All a bit stupid.

The Stepford Wives (Remake) - 6, mildly entertaining. Have a hankering to see the original which I suspect is a lot more sinister.

Solas - 8, Released some years ago this. A Spanish film about family relationships. Very sad, but with some hope.

I watched just over half of a film called "Envy" last night. Saw it in the vid shop and it had Jack Black and Ben Stiller, both of whom I rate quite highly, and so I got it out. Utter junk! Don't waste any time ever even thinking about watching this film.

I think it was a bit of a strange leap and that is was over-used. It would have worked better if it had been used more sparingly - rather than as a narrative hand holding device.

The thing that surprised me most about the film was the level of explanation and clarity about the themes of the film. WKW films are usually quite ambiguous leaving the viewer to reflect on the points he is trying to make.

The issue troubling me about 2046 was whether you could get a true understanding of Tony Leung's character and his emotional baggage if you hadn't previously seen In The Mood For Love. I thought the film was good, but the cinematography wasn't as beguiling as other WKW efforts or films involving Chris Doyle. Actually quite enjoyed the sci-fi bits as a bit of light relief and thought they became more relevant as they film went on, which is how it should be I suppose.

Did you pick up on the range of accents in the film as well? It flitted between Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin and goodness knows what else. Thank heavens for subtitles and the English incompetence at learning anothing "foreign-sounding".
