Just finished watching the movie: Matchstick Men, starring Nicolas Cage.
Good con movie, with some nice twists. Impressive acting by "newcomer" Alison Lohman too... I'll give it 7 out of 10. (Ridley Scott is the director) |

The Passion of the Christ - probably the most violent film I have ever seen. Quite difficult to sit through (I am not religeous). The jews were portrayed as I imagined, but the Romans looked particularly bad. Watch this if you have a strong stomach.

Just saw Kill Bill part one for the first time on dvd last night. Thought it was good, but I was a bit disappointed. Looked great and it certainly held my attention, but the script was crap and the music was surprisingly disappointing - normally the two best things about a QT movie.
6/10 |

I watched Big Daddy again last night.
Hilarious!! Steve Buscemi is brilliant as the delivery guy and the homeless man. I love it when Adam Sandler describes the crazy drunk in the bar as a man who "drinks too much soda" and when the rollerblader trips over the stick, "god damn stick!!". Plus the bit with McDonalds breakfast.

Saw 'Adaptation' last weekend. Very good film, very funny, but 'quirky', you probably won't like it if you only like mainstream films. It's about the guy who was the screenwriter for "Being John Malcovic" and his struggle to write the follow-up. You really need to have seen BJM to get all the jokes.

Saw Love actually last week for the first time and thought it was complete toilet. Bill Nighys performance was the only redeeming feature. Another film I really enjoyed recently was Young Adam with Ewan Mcgregor. A good story and very good acting by the whole cast.

Watched "Baise Moi" (cheers Gee Tee!) last night. Dirty, filthy film (i.e excellent sex scenes!). Did'nt think you could ever buy anything like that in HMV! This is going to sound funny (considering the content of the film), but could have been much better if the film explored the lives of the two main caracters a little more.
Got Kill Bill to watch tonight. |

Agree with Charltonhater about KB vol 2, some excellent bits but not as enjoyable as the first (and I don't normally like action films). The main thing that put me off was that I really didn't like David Carradine in it. It takes more than just speaking slowly to be cool.
Saw Monster at the weekend. Had to go to Bluewater to see it as the Tunbridge Wells Odeon thought it too controversial to show!! Really enjoyed it. Charlize Theron is amazing in it, you really can't believe it's her! It gets the right balance, showing sympathy for her early plight without condoning her continued killing. |

I have seen a plethora of bad films recently, mostly on TV, but a couple on video.
The worst culprits have been Event Horizon (pants apart from Sean Pertwee playing Sean Pertwee), Mission Impossible 2 (on the other night, dear oh dear) and Pirates Of the Carribean (Mildly amusing, but didn't live up to the hype, and Depp's accent was all over the shop). I'm giving up TV for a while. |

I watched Matrix Revolutions on Sunday night, really dissapointed.
Big Matrix fan and enjoyed Reloaded but this seemed all a bit boring and naff at the end. |

Some interesting movie facts you may not know:
Charlie Chaplin’s brother, Julian, acted as Charlie’s stand-in in the majority of his films, racking up more actual screen time than his brother, especially during the latter part of Charlie’s career when the silent star could only walk around his cane in circles due to a pronounced limp in his right leg. Meg Ryan is Ted Bundy’s cousin. Kevin Costner lists squirrels as a past time in the Film Academy Handbook. Nicole Kidman was required to play her own mirror image during the film To Die For after director, Gus van Sant, banned real mirrors from the set. Jude Laws real name is Douglas Puta. Three out of the five Star Wars directors are married to the same woman. The original batmobile is now owned by George Bush Senior. After the third James Bond film, Sean Connery refused to work with anyone in silhouette. After Robbie Williams’ screen test for Gosford Park, he was tested for rickets.
