If it hasn't already been mentioned, the best ships the navy ever had were the civilian ones that picked our boys up from the beaches of Dunkirk.

Arguably To view the link you have to Register or Login as the most decorated in WW2.
Personally I'd go for the Rodney as it fecked the Bismarck while the state of the art KGV's guns misfired. It also had the biggest guns in the navy, 16" and also slaughtered a few Panzer divisions. It was pretty much fecked itself by the end of WW2 and had to be scrapped. Looks spectacular as well.

Nelson class was going to be longer with another big gun aft but it would have breached a pre war weight limit agreement.. the Bismark ignored this treaty. I was a young lad and when my grandad was still around. He didn't like to talk about the war. But i would pester him he told me a few stories and used to hate the old sink the Bismark film, due to the lack of credit for the Rodney. He worked in one of the big 16" guns during that battle and D day bombardment . A sad story he told me on D day was upon returning in the evening to reload to Portsmouth in blackout conditions. It collided with a returning landing craft sinking it and killing the crew blue on blue .

I am seriously out of touch with armaments but while the frigates look cute and cuddly will they manage with 303 rifles?

Give it a couple of years and these will start to be useful ships ..
Still think that plane on 3 smaller ships would have been more so.
