No it has turned into a shoreditch-style happening street party; distressed bars, trendy food stalls, music.

Only open Friday and Saturday nights, May to September. Hipsters travel from all over to attend.

Sutton's radio is an OK pub but still lacks a sense of community. The Talbot up the road towards Brockley still feels more of my local even though it is half a mile away.

Lewisham Council destroyed the old centre with the Shopping centre, they have now made it worse around the station with high rises. The new hotel will be too tall too. Fortunately not the 8 stories they first applied for but 5, when it should have been limited to 3.

The streets behind there going up the hill, Slaithwaite and Morley, have fantastic large Victorian family homes. Parts of Lewisham, Catford, Brockley and Ladywell have some great housing stock but the pleasant parts are in spite of the council not because of them

Yeah Suttons Radio needs more customers, basically.

Interesting what you say about the council ruining the centre with the indoor 'Lewisham Centre'. I've only known Lewisham (I live in Brockley) with the new centre, but some of the old photos I've seen make it look a more attractive place than it is now. A big issue/problem now is the separation of the station area, with the station, DLR, potential new Bakerloo extension, and all those modern block, and the shopping centre. These are separated by a huge busy through road, so it feels like a journey to get from one to the other. If the council could find some way of connecting the station and the shopping centre I think it would almost certainly help. Personally, I don't mind the tower blocks. There are more to come, and the promise of some retail/leisure development on the ground floors in the next few years. A cafe/bar has just opened on the ground floor of the one nearest the station, and it seems to be doing well.
