He is responsible for the deaths of millions of Indians during WW2 as well.

I just don't think being an effective wartime leader for Britain comes close to balancing out his atrocities and fascist endorsement. Definitely deserves more condemnation than celebration, but thats not how it is in British schools, and I doubt that’s how it’ll ever be.
