Footballer are grown children

This is all they have to worry about, whether their FIFA rating is good.

And he didn’t exactly write the article did he. It’s just talking about a trending video, and Scott Pollock in general who I’m somewhat familiar with. Was basically ‘produced’ by a team called Hashtag United which started on YouTube, and is now in the 9th tier of the football pyramid. It’s all very silly to me, but is marking a change to lower league football, and therefore is newsworthy.

Eric Dier though? You know all of them worry about this, while they sit around playing
Fortnite.

Footballers changed post David Beckham when they all became tattooed models, but atleast even though Beckham was dim he was more like a man than a child. Something else happened when they all developed child’s brains. Roy Keane, Tony Adams, Gary McAllister to name but 3 people who were men, probably all of them acted like men in the 80/90s, even Gazza who was a class clown.

Given that some of those you have named have been done for things such as drink driving and domestic abuse maybe acting like "a man" isn't really that important?

In 2017, Pollock began playing for Hashtag United after winning their nationwide academy competition in May.[5] He subsequently appeared at the EE Wembley Cup later that year, a competition in which he won man of the match and was subsequently handed a trial at Crystal Palace; club ambassador Mark Bright had spotted him while commentating on the event.[4][6] Crystal Palace didn't retain Pollock, stating he was "too slight".[4] He was moved to Northampton Town's U18s ahead of 2018–19.[4]

Ok I can pick any player from any Premiership team during the 90s and my point stands.

I’ll pick one at random:
Gordon Watson from Sheffield Wednesday.

They are all wannabe models with the brain of a child now. I might have got older so see them differently but undoubtedly the level of fame and fortune from an early age has stopped their mental development and responsibility in the world. I guess that is the distinction between sportsperson and celebrity.

I appreciate it was one of the Palace TV "fluff" pieces they do, but a few years back they did a feature with Yohan Cabaye and his obsession with playing FIFA Manager (or whatever it is called).

Struck me at the time odd that here was a man who seemed to be very worldly, a nice looking family, and the world as his oyster... Yet there he was in some cafe in Beckenham sitting alone in a corner (by his admission regularly) playing this video game. Kind of seemed very childlike for one so seemingly cultured.

Yeah I thought that was odd of Cabaye, I imagined he was more meeting investors to discuss a new fragrance range than managing Southport on Football Manager.

I appreciate some footballers probably experienced hardship growing up, whether that was being from a broken home, living on a rough estate, fleeing from a war-torn country etc.

What happens from their mid to late teens, when they get picked up by a pro club and things suddenly fall in their lap, their clubs and agents come into play - this is where they miss out on 'real life'.

From then on, everything is done for them. They don't learn any life skills that we pick up once we've left school. I can't imagine Marcus Rashford mows his back garden in his spare time or Jess Lingard knows how to bleed his radiators. They live a life of royalty - hence the spoilt nature and insecurities over FIFA ratings.

With the amount of ladies he was probably making sweet love to with them looks, he deserves a chance to relax - & who are we to judge how?
