Let the self righteous have their moment here. We all know that the self righteous peoples opinion carry more weight (according to them)than those that are more controlled and wait for a verdict before casting comments on these cases.

One can only hope that the above said are never in a situation like this where the verdict is about peoples opinion rather than the due process called the legal system.

Bloody 'self righteous' people who don't rape and beat women. What's the world coming to eh, when an ex-footballer can't have a bit of slap and tickle on the train without those 'self righteous' bastards complaining about it.

Is this a joke? Botham was box-office at test level. 14 hundreds and 22 fifties at an average of 33.54. A lot of specialist test batsmen don't do any better (Atherton - 16 hundreds at 37: Gatting - 10 hundreds at 35 (Gower only got 18 test hundreds)). Botham also took 383 wickets at an average of 28 (he took 10 wickets in a match 4 times and got 27 fifers. Bresnan got NO test hundreds and only ONE fifer! His batting average was 26 and his bowling average was 33!

His current sexual assault trial is painful, and his defence is embarrassing

Would fit right into the current England setup then.

This is another bear of very little brain. And another one who deserves to get the book thrown at him but probably won't.

An “over-exuberant”, childlike, drunk individual who is named in public. Boorish, boorish behaviour. A charge of sexual assault was always a charge made for the audience. Was that the charge the victim wanted? The anonymous victim. Said victim said that she had no idea who defendant was even after she got off train. Victim said that other passengers challenged defendant on the train for his behaviour. It was a train from York to Newcastle. Did not one of the passengers recognise him and tell victim of his identity before she got off train? She only realised it was the defendant when she saw him on TV a week later and then told police. Only a cynic would allege that the week after the “assault” the victim was arranging an “exclusive”.

But **** me, how much tax payers money has been spent on this farce? Is this even considered? It’s a bloody joke. How many of us have revived a drunken kiss from a stranger in a club/pub/Selhurst Park.

It did sound like nonsense, but looking into it, at the time it was posted (June 2012) Bressie had a batting average of 40 and bowling of 25. This was from 13 Tests, and they obviously regressed from this point on (he averaged 16 and 51 in his final 10 Tests).
