COYP

CB has missed the second most goal scoring opportunities in the league in 2017/18 (when he played a full season )

If CB isnít scoring, he offers very little. Iíve long said... palace need a striker that will sacrifice his own game for the benefit of the team effort. We need a striker to pull defenders out of position... we need a striker to run in behind. When there is a transition in possession, we need to move the oppo around... pull centre backs in to areas they donít want to be... create gaps. With CB... we donít do this. He just positions himself in between the centre backs and waits for a long ball. Iíve heard people say we pump the ball up to him when CB plays... thatís because he offers no movement... he wonít run in behind... he wonít pull defenders about.. he wonít work the back line.
When we have CB in the team we are so predictable... the oppo centre backs have such a easy game. Iíd rather have AS or CW as back up to Ayew than CB. Iíve not seen anyone put forward a argument to change my mind.

Itís not about who is the better player... itís about who works best in our team.

Iíd rather Campbell/Jerome than Benteke. ****... What is Wayne Andrewís up to?

The best part of CBís game for palace, is when he comes back to defend corners... I think heís quite a asset to have on defending set pieces.

Even this role has also been done successfully by Murray or Wickham previously.

It was introduced originally by Freedman so that the forward does not come back to mark but acts in a free role so he is able to attack the ball at the near post.

Yep, Tony Pulis or Sam Allardyce would never have thought of something like that if it wasn't for Dougie Freedman.

These are all good points, but Iím still not convinced Sorloth is remotely good enough to do any of these things at this level. Happy to be proved wrong of course, but benteke has at least proved he is able - 1st season for us, Aston Villa - even if he seems to have completely gone off the boil now.

My point is, he is better suited to our style of play than CB. Thatís not to say he is brilliant... or better than Ayew... just that I think he has more chance of fulfilling the Ayew role than CB.

Doubt if he will ever play in a Palace shirt again as long as we are in the Premiership. A terrible bit of scouting by Freedman and Moody paying way, way over the odds for a Scandinavian striker totally out of his depth in the Premier League.
Almost exactly the same , with the same return, to Moody's masterstroke in signing Andreas Cornelius during his time at Cardiff City. Some people must be made very welcome when visiting football agents offices in Scandinavia.

I'd rather someone throw a lump of dead meat with two dolls eyes stuck on it somewhere, than have either Benteke or Hennessey ever pull on a red and blue shirt again at CPFC, but then we've been saying the same thing for years now and the wankers are still coining it in

Just checking, that’s the same Simon Rodger who played over 300 games in 11 seasons in the PL and first division. Some very poor player....8th on our all time appearance list...

Rodger was underrated if anything.

Not sure I can remember a Palace player called Abraham, by the way. Is he referring to Wilbraham? If so, I don't think he, or Alan Lee were considered world beaters by Palace fans, we just got behind them because they were the players we had and cheered them when they put the effort in.

Rodger was very average. He tried his best but it was never that great and he went to the Weeds.

Fair enough, but i think even a poor Bentekeís more useful than Sorloth - thereís no evidence he could fit any style of play at this level

Don't think sorloth has the physical ability to do the Ayew role. sorloth gets bullied by defenders, and has shown no ability to put defenders under pressure. He can run the channels all he wants but if he can't win a 50/50 battle or more realisticly a 30/70 one with a defender then it's completely pointless.
