2019 World Darts Championship

It starts tonight and goes on until the final on New Years Day.

A new format for this year as 96 players are involved. The top 32 players in the rankings are seeded and start in round 2 while the other 64 take part in round 1.

For the first few days each session will have three first round matches and then one from the second round.

If the seedings go to plan Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson will play in the semi final. If that match does happen I think the winner will then go on to be the champion. Rob Cross hasn't been in good form and I can't see him defending the title.

When it comes to the Majors Peter Wright is the Darting equivalent of Spurs. He can often find a way to finish 3rd in a 2-Horse race it seems.

I'm not sure about Peter Wright as he hasn't had the best year. He made the final of the Grand Prix but didn't challenge in many other events. I think if he did reach the final he would get beaten.

It was great to see Price going out specially as he was 2-0 up.

It's now opened up in the bottom quarter as well after a few surprise results.

Gary Anderson v Chris Dobey and Michael van Gerwen v Adrian Lewis up soon.

Wonder if we will have "fartgate" again in the first match

The seeds dropping like flies!
Assuming they both reach the semi, Anderson vs MVG will surely produce the tournament winner. Could be an absolute cracker of a game

It's looking more likely that if van Gerwen and Anderson play each other tomorrow that will produce the winner but Michael Smith can't be ruled out if he gets to the final.

So,

Aspinall v. Dolan
Chisnall v. Anderson
Humphries v. Smith
van Gerwen v. Joyce

Semi's are then Aspinall/Dolan v. Smith/Humphries and Chisnall/Anderson v. van Gerwen/Joyce

For me, Dolan will beat Aspinall, Smith will beat Humphries. MvG obviously, looks imperious. Chisy v. Anderson is difficult, Anderson has just done enough each round whereas Chisy looks phenomenal and dire all in one match. I think we are on course for a Smith v. MvG final with MvG winning it again.

Chrizzy is just too inconsistent to win it. Follows 180s regularly with 49’s etc

Can’t see past MvG but just hope it’s a good final and before that some exciting q’s and semis
