Kent seem to have a long batting line up for this match.

A good start to life back in Division One. Things were going well when I stopped for the Palace game, about 85-4. When I resumed watching about 5:30 it was a nice surprise to see Kent batting.

It's been a good day with Palace winning, Kent starting well and now Brighton out of the cup.

Middx (featuring Robson, Gubbins, Eskinazi, Malan, Morgan, Murtagh, Finn & Roland-Jones) 134-7 vs Northants (445).

WTF?

Kent 172/7 at lunch. They really need to get another 60/70 as they have to bat last on a typical Somerset wicket.

Last wicket partnership killing kent at the moment following two early breakthroughs. Good to see my pal Ollie Robinson keeping well, was also unlucky with his dismissal. A lead of 200 plus already on the last day is going to make it a good days cricket, regardless of the result.

Bloody 60 odd for that last wicket. 200+ will be tricky.

This is going to be hard. I thought it was going well when the first two wickets went this morning but that last wicket partnership could be the turning point.

Is it really down to April pitches? Or are just the bowlers better than batsmen at the moment? Take the rain day out and this is going to be another 3 day County Game that Kent are involved in, possibly 2 and a half unless their batsmen put up some fight.

The wicket at Taunton seems always dodgy. There are plenty of runs elswhere.
Kent were always going to be up against it batting last. 43/5 Need a minor miracle

Bit harsh, but I suppose the skipper felt that 20 minutes was just too much out of wholes day's play to bring home the win?
On the plus side, its more or less doubled his average for the season

Yeah, happens all too regularly down there. Not just April wickets, that last one in September against Lancs, think 23 wickets fell the first day. Plus of course the 'unlucky' pitch covering against Surrey....

Never mind. A few bonus bowling points.

If Kent were playing Surrey you just know that the fat trundler would now get 150* and win the game for Kent.

As it is, it looks like Kent are the new Huddersfield.

I seem to remember Huddersfield's first match back in the top flight going rather differently...

Yes, well they weren’t playing on a shitty pitch.

Can’t beleive that Somerset are going to be allowed to play four day cricket on those shocking wickets again all year.
