I agree , I don't think Kelly is a cultured player but as a defender he makes less mistakes than Sakho .

I'm not sure we can drop him even if Sakho and Tomkins were fully fit. He's been the one definitive success of this season, aside from the points total and arguably Kelly and the keeper. Jury is still out on Ayew, for me.

I thought McArthur had a great game today, I was surprised how much pace he still has and he really was up for it today

Guita 6. Solid. Gives me so much more confidence than Hennessy. Apart from dropping the ball through his legs into the goal after it had gone out of play.
Ward 5. Great servant of the club. Nuff said.
Cahill 7. Class. Absolute snip of a buy.
Kelly 6. He looks so much more comfortable at centre than full back.
PVA 5. Dunno where his form has gone. Think he misses Schlupp or Townsend to help him out when Wilf is on his flank and seems to have lost confidence going forward.
Luka. 6 Solid but tired noticeable towards the end. Great pen.
Kouyate. 6 Not at his best but very strong in the tackle which is great to see.
Schlupp 6. Busy without doing anything significant.
McArthur 6. Likewise but gives everything he’s got.
Wilf. 6 Better than of late. Head in the game and could have taken Norwich apart if on top form.
Ayew 6. Turned it around for himself. Willing runner. Always eager to get a shot off.
Subs
Townsend 6. Thought he was coming on for PVA with Schlupp dropping back. Looked eager to make something happen at a time when no one else was driving forward. Good goal.
McCarthy 5. Put himself about t no great effect. I don’t really see the point unless to cover for a tiring Jimmy.
Mayer 5. Great to see someone coming on to get on the ball and try to get control rather that a useless glory hunter.

Ayew works his f*cking arse off and for that I'm grateful.
He might not be a prolific goalscorer but his closing down, work ethic and hold up play is exactly what we need.

Cameron Jerome 2.0.

Kouyate and macarthur did some important ball chasing

Not unpopular but you need to allow for the situation. Kelly has been playing the best football he has for us and Sakho has 2 games in what 6 months?! Add to that against the better sides ( and we face 6 in the next 6 games) we’ve massively missed Sakho passing out and getting our counter attacks going quickly. Also don’t forget Sakho, though rusty at times first half was excellent second half against wolves.

Kelly looks his best so far for us but a fully fit Sakho and a fully fit Cahill (and a fully fit Tomkins for that matter) are ultimately better.

Fantastic problem to have though

Thought both Kelly and Cahill were mustard for us today - hard to choose between the two for MoM.

Glad to see Andros come on and have a significant impact - after an indifferent start to the season, hopefully this will give him a fillip and we'll see him back to his best.

Cahill was and is proving to be again one of the countries best centre backs . Top performance .

As usual for me WZ MOM
Cahill close 2nd, good solid 2-0 home win with no dramas
Professional performance against a promoted side.
Right subs by Roy, rather than a lazy CB for Ayew.
All 7's the rest

MacArthur visibly tries every 2nd half. However he does a lot of work whereas Schlupp is a lazy decker who only looks good when surging forward. He shadow boxescwhen welfare defending. When he holds on to the ball he slows the game game down too much and seems unsure as to what to do with ball and often loses it. Compared to Meyer who in his short spell ran all over the place and I believe contributed to the 2nd goal. Cahil is doing well for us but I thought Kelly was best. Such a great underrated buy.

Meyer looked a vast improvement on Schlupp in the 2 mins he came on before 90. Played a lovely reverse pass to wilf that led to the 2nd goal. Cant believe Schlupp keeps him out the side. Criminal.

Guita 6. Another commanding performance. Didn't have to pull off any wonder saves this week but faultless nonetheless.
Ward 6 Solid
Cahill 7.5 Excellent. Always a good defender but prone to diving in and the odd rash challenge, seems to have retained all the best parts of his game and even cut out his previous weakness. I was dubious but what a signing.I
Kelly 6.5 Another solid performance, comes in and out of the side but never lets us down. Proper professional.
PVA 5.5 Stands off his attacker too much, some great bursts forward but nothing quite came off for him.
Luka. 6 Solid but was played through in the first half. Great pen, shame about the booking.
Kouyate. 6 Not at his best but nonetheless put himself about.
Schlupp 6. Workman like but it never really happened for him.
McArthur 6.5 Great energy
Wilf. 6.5 Effective but still seems to be holding himself back a fraction. Should have scored with a header, but big part in the 2nd goal.
Ayew 6. Worked hard, wants to score, deserves his starting place.

Subs
Townsend 7. I thought he looked like his old highly effective self from this time last year. Set up Wilf with a great cross, scored and look sharp and positive throughout. Had he been carrying a knock, that he is now free of?
McCarthy 6. Busy but nothing of note.
Mayer 6.5 Very little time but played a major part in the 2nd goal.

Hodgson: We started well and he fixed the issues at half time, going 442 was the right move with Townsend particularly effective

A very important win, that hopefully with have settled the squad's obvious tensions and frustration. I can't help but feel we are actually not far from clicking and having a really good season, but likewise not far from everyone falling out.

Ayew, Schlupp and Kouyate have the combined footballing IQ of an old sock

Luka not at best, but i like that he's kicking off on his teammates a bit. Needs to be more vocal.

Wilf played well but can well see why he wants to leave. He's wasted here working off mediocrities like Ayew Schlupp and Kouyate. The latter is at least capable of breaking up play, others just miles off what's required, and it must wear him down.

PVA is rubbish

Cahill is immense. Great to see a real defender with some brains, as opposed to the erratic and self-indulgent Sahko, for all his gifts.

Meyer should start games like this, and as he isnt he should seek a move ASAP for the good of his career. Should be walking into that midfield.

Really? He does not have any anticipation nor a footballing brain.
It’s head down and hope for the best.
Much prefer Meyer out there who has all the things Schlupp lacks.

Don't get me wrong,it's great to win and it was a pretty good performance, but if this is the type of football it takes it's going to be a long season. We are the most boring, insipid, ambitionless, dull, uninspiring team you can ever imagine. All 4 of our home games have been an absolute snoozefest. But we won.Again.
