11 points after 7 games is a sound return but there are some cracks. We will no doubt finish mid table again, it will be dull, it will be uninspiring, suppose we need to accept that... which is a shame with some of the talent we have.. and being wilfs last season.
Yep.

2-0 win.
Great 3 points.
But it wouldn't have been a surprise if we'd dropped 2 points again. Made hard work if it.

I just refuse to accept there isn’t a balance between Roy’s solid set up and exciting forward play. We have seen it at points, just seems intent on turgid football and nullifying attacking/creative players.

Despite the bbs opinion, max meyer is our most talented midfielder and he just isn’t used, Townsend has had creativity knocked out of him, Benteke who was a 1 in 2 striker has now scored 2 in 50 odd under roy.. just seems his system suits workman like players.. which is a shame considering some of the players we have.

With some of the talent we have there is still a worrying inability to pass a ball more than 10 feet to our own player, put in a decent cross, or deliver a decent set piece (except pens).

Having said that we are normally notorious slow starters both at the start of a season and in games. Certainly we seem to be paying a bit more attention to that and the signs are encouraging that we can start more games on the front foot.

Despite the need for another right back we are strong defensively particularly looking at our set of centre backs. I know it is early days but if we can break the habit of having a half and half season, given normally we are always stronger in the second half of the season, then I think we should have a worry free season.

This kind of sums it up.

No team in this league can be walked over, not by Man City, not Liverpool, certainly not mid table sides like is, and no team is a walkover, not Norwich, not Sheffield Utd and not Villa. I think any thought like that is arrogant at worst just naive at best, we’re Palace yet our best team should have walked over a team that beat Man City 2/3 weeks ago, maaaatttteeee

Oh, so your using hindsight to dig out Hodgson for not playing your favourites.

Hanging on? What game did you watch? We weren’t hanging on at any point bar (at a stretch) about 10 minutes in the first half where they had a decent spell of pressure.

They were dog shot because we controlled the game. We controlled the space they tried to occupy, harried all across the pitch and didn’t really give them anything to build on. If they were shit, it was as much because of us as it was them. We play with ‘our best team’ in ‘our best formation’ whatever that is, and we give up more space and more in our half, and there is zero guarantee we contain them as well as we did yesterday. Yet despite that, you think it would be a walkover, that no game is?

The good ship bbs now has a captain who’s steadied the ship on a even keel . Yet a mutiny is never too far away .

Yep... We were too strong and clever for them.

I wish Jimmy Mac’s shot in the 2nd half had have gone in. I think we might have scored 4 or 5.

Well yeah, but no one saw 8-0 coming and certainly not before a ball had been kicked.

Yesterday was much better and in general a very entertaining game but we still found ourselves holding on to a narrow 1-0 lead going into stoppage time thanks to a penalty and probably could've conceded a couple after we'd scored. To a newly promoted team.

It's great to win but similar to the Man Utd result, albeit we were much more convincing yesterday, it seems pointless starting equally ludicrous threads declaring that Hodgson is now above criticism and that anyone who did so has been proven wrong when the concerns raised after defeats are still valid. You're just opening up the floodgates for people who start overly negative threads to do so when we next lose.

I'm starting to think this team doesn't actually bear proper analysis any more. Last season we were simultaneously one of the best away teams and one of the worst home teams, so everyone who criticised or praised them were right whilst arguing the other was wrong. And we simultaneously have allegedly a terrible squad, yet one that someone as good as Camarasa can't even get on the bench of. I watch us and feel unsatisfied most of the time yet we have a very decent points total.

My personal criteria is now just whether I enjoy watching us play; win or lose. Therefore yesterday was great because both teams contributed to an entertaining game.
