What so special about Jill Mortimer, or is it more a protest vote?

Why?

If the party of the working class has so little to offer the northern working class that they want to vote for the tories in some sort of Stockholm syndrome thing, that doesn’t have to be a permanent event.

When the opposition party in a democracy can be so ineffective in taking on the most sleazy and dishonest government in my lifetime you have to question the mentality of the British electorate for simply accepting it in a way that suggests that they do not care we have such an immoral PM and government.

British politics is ****ed.

Answering your first question

A) few people care about Johnson’s flat
B) labour’s reputation is utterly utterly shot. The left destroyed any remaining credibility, and Starmer has not been able to reverse (which is not surprising given he had a key role in the previous shadow cabinet). From yougov today, only 30% of people think they could form a competent government whereas more than 40% think the tories currently have a competent government. Whilst more than half the population think the government handled covid badly only 20% think labour would have been better (which is hilarious as labour are polling 33% in the same poll).

Good to see towns in the North East voting the way that I told you they would and in large numbers. Unless something major changes then Labour will struggle to win a single town in the North East, North West, the Midlands or North Wales in the 2024 GE.

Lisa Nandy could have won Hartlepool. The rest of Labour haven't got a clue about how to get the towns back. And still most of you would rather dismiss us as racist and thick and Turkey's who vote for Christmas. Conveniently ignoring the fact that Boris' Government and the Tory Mayor have spent more time improving the lives of people in Teesside than any other Government since the 60s.

By the way I still couldn't bring myself to vote Blue but I'm really pleased that Hartlepool has.

Agree.

Whoever is advising Starmer to do stunts like browsing John Lewis wallpaper is completely out of touch with normal people.

Result imminent but Sky reporting almost certain Tories will win a majority.

Hi Russ.

Funny that the reports from most of the usual suspects still lead with MP sacked for speaking out against lack of PPE rather than the actual truth though.

It’s a truly dreadful result for Labour. Did they even get 30% of the vote share?
