So they would end up being sold off and built on. You use your own words. Don't be silly,

It is easy to list things off the top of your head that should be done to make for a fairer society, but just see how quickly that list shortens, sometimes to the point of not existing, when you just think them through and realise they are unworkable.

I think I speak for many on here in saying we admire your passion and know that your heart is the right place, but you are too much an idealist, with little ability to balance your idealism with even a modicum of realism.

I'm not a socialist or left wing, but am a Labour voter, I'd probably be seen to be on the right of the party.

I love the BBS and the chance to chat with those of different political persuasions.

I'm another who admires CR and the courage of his convictions, I temper that in that Rome wasn't built in a day.

The road to power is a very long one, from the current position, 2024 looks fanciful, a million miles away.

Abolishing private schools and the HOL and even taxing the rich more may not be in the immediate agenda, the to do list is a long one, like a shopping list in that things are constantly scribbled out.

Yes I would like the expensive stuff, but for now will have to settle for the own brand option

Abolishing state schools? Well, that's an interesting angle.

Or buy properties in the catchment areas of the better state providers.

There is a very good argument as to why change needs to be graduuated esp social and economic change, within an existing system. Over the course of the 20th and 21st centuary, many of the radical demands of the Anarcists and Emma Goldman, have largely become accepted rights in the UK. Sufferage, equality legislation, social welfare programs, free health care, paid leave, safe working conditions and laws protecting workers were seen as radical in her time.

Abolishing public schools or adding VAT to education won’t really convince anyone to vote Labour but will incentivise those who will lose out to vote against Labour. That will include plenty of prosperous and middle class socially liberal voters living in London and the Home Counties. They would be better off getting the private schools to do more for their local communities.

If the best they've got on Stamer is that he bought a field 25 years ago for his parents to house rescue donkeys then it makes a change from the previous leader, whose closest had more skeletons than the local cemetery.

I see Corbyn's idiot brother was arrested yesterday for being an idiot - not that we should be judged by our idiot brothers.

Piece looks incredibly average.

Starmer plays down his title and has never struck me as someone who pretends to be something different.

I don't see him having a beer with Ed Sheeran or whoever, trying to appear trendy, nor falling into the trap that Miliband did.

I would hope he doesn't appear at any festivals either.

Less is more, couldn't give a fook how rich he is, he's a leader of a political party, he's not going to be in a bedsit in Tooting.

Typical Mail sneering

Surely the only judgement is his competency to do the job, and he seems to have made a reasonable fist of it thus far

I remember the Corbyn people saying Jezza was picked out for special attention by the right wing press.

Desperate stuff from worried Tories, who would do better to look for a new leader who will can effectively deal with prime minister Starmer in opposition, after 2024.

So he owns a field that is worth, in reality, about £28k at non pp rates and may or may not have a share in some scrub land and it’s not for sale anyway? Is that not the reality? Twats

We had one that was near us and they were great. Let our local schools use their sports facilities and theatre whenever they werenít using it.
