I genuinely don’t get this approach. My Brexit will be less shit than May’s / Johnson’s Brexit wasn’t a winning plan for Corbyn in two elections about Brexit, so why will “I am less shit than him” be a winning plan.

Starmer needs lots more than I am not Boris Johnson.

I largely agree also with SE25.

I just canít bite my tongue with the hypocrisy of some of the centrists on here who would be absolutely slating corbyn for those poll ratings.

A YouGov poll asking who out of Boris Johnson or Keir Starmer would make the best Prime Minister puts Johnson in the lead at 46 per cent. Starmer wins 22 per cent of the vote – with a candidate by the name of 'not sure' beating him to second place with 28 per cent of the vote.

Is this surprising? Well in the final YouGov poll on this question ahead of the December snap election, the PM was on 41 per cent and Jeremy Corbyn more popular than Starmer on 26 per cent.
So he’s less credible than corbyn...given how bad he was said to be by many on here then that’s not good, no?

Slightly worrying seeing as he hasn't had any of the negative press Corbyn had at the start.

Why are you just concentrating on Brexit policy?

Johnson is an outed liar beyond what is lazily attributed to all politicians.

Johnson directly tried to undermine democracy in his attempt, and semi success, of proroguing parliament to stop legitimate debate.

Johnson ruthlessly got rid of dissenting voices within his own party. Not MPs who were at the extremes but well balanced and reasoned ones such as Ken Clarke.

This could be a long game for Starmer and Labour to regain the trust and belief of the electorate CR. So bite your tongue and just get behind him, even just for now.

Right now, whether you are Labour, LibDems, SNP or whatever getting rid of Johnson has to be a priority. I would not be surprised if there are a sizeable minority of Tories who would feel happy to see him gone.

Has he really had any press?

I think the leadership contest dragged on so long (or at least felt like it) when it finally ended we were in a pandemic and Parliament closed for Easter.

Let's see what happens over the next few months. I think it's a careful line he'll need to walk with regard to holding the government to account vs being seen as overly critical in a time of national crisis

Do you think Rebecca Long-Bailey or Lisa Nandy would be doing any better? As Blair said the PLP have a far better idea who would make a better leader than the unions or members.

How am I clutching at straws? As said new leaders normally get a bounce.

Everyone on here said corbyns rating for who the public wanted as PM was dire, really dire. Yet Starmer is doing worse than that.

I want him to beat Johnson but itís comical the way some on here try and pretend about Starmer in a way they would never have done with corbyn. To the point where itís strange to point this out.

But as you say we will see in a year or so.

I mean I've got the time, I could go back and see what you were all saying about Corbyn 2 weeks in if you like for my own amusement. I'm sure of course that you all gave him the benefit of the doubt from the off.

Yes the electorate are moving right. It is perfectly normal now to be xenophobic. I know swing voters and traditional Labour voters who are highly anti immigration. Most people are pro death penalty. A lot of people think climate change is mostly nonsense. I could go on and on. If you took Farage's views round the country they would get widespread support. It's worrying times politically.

As for the Tories moving left, Jacob Rees Mogg, Dominic Raab and Priti Patel in the cabinet. I don't see it.

I consider myself a socialist but when you have me agreeing with Worksop on a thread about the Labour leader you’re doing something very very wrong.

This is like arguing about Pardew towards the end with people who would never have a bad word said because he put the ball in the back of the Scousers net. Being 3000 votes away from forming a thirteen party rainbow alliance to take control of the country is Corbyn’s 90 Cup Semi-Final.

You can if you like but I’ll tell you what I said

He’s an absolute buffoon and couldn’t win a raffle if he bought all the tickets. Or some such.

Hey, and guess what, I was right

It was as obvious as Brighton being shit

It’s not so obvious with Starmer

It’s quite simple
