Lop Sided Fixture Lists

I know the PL fixtures are supposedly generated randomly, with a bit of tweaking to avoid police issues like Everton v Utd and Liverpool v Man C being on the same day, but the way ours have panned out so far seems very unfair and counter to normal statistical distribution.

Depending on whether you think there are 4, 5 or 6 top sides we should logically, and usually, play one of them once every 3 to 5 games. Our recent run has had Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool in 4 of 5 games.

2018/19 - Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Utd consecutively
2017/18 - City, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs in 6 games, and Spurs, Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool in 5 games
2016/17 - Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal in 4 games, and Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, City, Utd in 10 games
2015/16 - Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs in 5 games

Obviously you also get runs against lower teams too, but it seems that these runs, especially, this season, just knock away any momentum you have as you by default have to play in a different way. You then have to start all over again creating a decent run against the teams directly around you.

I’m sure it’s not only us, but these “big team” games coming in clusters like this is not ideal.

The worst part of having this run of tough games is the run of winnable games we then get in a row. As we are seeing right now with ward off and zaha in obvious pain at the end we are very vulnerable to injuries. Arguably our two most irreplaceable players at the moment could have injuries that are say 6-8 weeks. No uncommon. That’s about 8 of the games we need to get points out of.

Hopefully not the case but our fixture list leaves us very very vulnerable to key players being injured even for a few weeks

Most teams get the block of the previous years top 6, its definatly done to help those teams for some reason or another.

Does that den of Palace hatred, MOTD, have anything to do with the fixture list?

2l.
And the 5th game was a massively in-form Leicester.

Who will mysteriously turn to shit in their next fixture, just wait and see.

There's definitely skulduggery. What about this whole thing where say, Man City can't play Liverpool on the first weekend even if the computer says so? Any interference is weighting and therefore, cheating.

The biggest thing for me was when we got the two Manchester teams away on successive weekends in 2017/18. The boffin must've come come running out of the computer room to mention it and the faceless Premier League man just said "f*ck 'em"
And Hans Christian (Leif) Andersen was definitely not around as we lost 0-5 & 0-4.

Yes, the non intra top 6 games at the start/end of the season is, I think, tv interference: fair enough, they now own the game.
Slightly different, but still ‘fixture computer’ related: I’m sure we had Sunderland away and Newcastle away on consecutive Saturdays in the 2013/14 season?

Yes we did, I went to both: 0-0 then 0-1. Just before we beat Chelsea at Selhurst when Terry scored for us.

Agreed! I went to both games, and was pleased to find that I’d travelled well over 1000 miles in 8 days without leaving England!

It’s bullshit they meddle with the fixture list. (Meaning They do it, that it’s shit they do meddle with it and not leave alone)

Why can’t the top 6 play each other on the first match of the season?

Blimey. Are we really reduced to moaning about the fixture list now?

We've got to play everyone home and away and we know the fixture order at the start of the season.
