Sadly it becomes another "who's the better fan" argument. It would be so much simpler to reward each type of fan according to their habits. If you spend more at the club and on merchandise, you get discounts (like a nectar card system), whereas if you attend more games, you get further up the pecking order for away tickets.

The ongoing problem with the latter system for tickets however is that newer or younger fans will never be able to catch up. So do you then have a ballot system?

I suspect there is no Fitz solution to this one.

The logic of the loyalty points only being earned through tickets is because the only use of the points is for the fair distribution of tickets when likely to be oversubscribed

Newer or younger fans is a valid point, the gold membership does come with a ballot system - if you don't get one through the ballot (so for example Brighton away), then I imagine you get another go in the ballot for another high demand away game?

1500pts (so 3 years of being a season ticket holder) entitles you into the away ticket scheme if you wish which then gets you a guaranteed ticket to 16-19 of the League away games

As it currently stands, they only really come into play for a handful of popular matches...

- Bournemouth (small allocation)
- Brighton, and London games (especially Tottenham which still has 'new ground' appeal)
- very occasional big match (eg Watford away quarter final)

They were once used for a tiny allocation at Metz, but in the end everyone who wanted a ticket got one.

Who knows their value/application in the future though?

New Premier League season stars in September, but at 25% capacity? Which of the 18,000 season ticket holders from 2019/20 can buy a ticket?

Away games have a quarter of the allocation, just 750 tickets, Loyalty points is the agreed way to allocate them surely?

What next, double points on replica shirts to help sales along a bit?

Every time the loyalty points scheme is used to 'help things along', a bit of extra compensation for E400 season ticket holders who never should have been pushed out of their seats (but that's a whole other thread), or in this case to try and save the club a few quid in refunds, then it dilutes what was welcomed 7 years ago as the fairest way to prioritise ticket allocation, and a scheme which almost nobody quibbled about.
Yep.

I don't think it's a perfect system but it's no different to any other club or business who reward people for the money they spend with the club. I've less issue with it now when the club need to find ways to keep money within the club.

Haven't had a response since I emailed on Thursday. What do we reckon? Is there any point in phoning them?

It's not as if those of us who go to Burnley, Newcastle etc. do it as a sacrifice out of pure loyalty to the club though is it? Most of us do it because it's a fun day out that coincides with a game of football.

There are no doubt lots of people that would love a day out on the beers to the other end of the country with their mates but simply cant do that any more. I dont really see why they should be penalised for that when they put money into the club by spending money on their kids' kits, for example. In the end, those people arent likely to overtake someone like yourself who has a season ticket, goes away and in all likelihood will buy the occasional pint at Selhurst

Personally, I feel that all fans who attended matches during the Alan Mullery era should immediate be awarded 10,000 Loyalty Points

It is of course a form of enjoyment sometimes

But the example I gave shows that actually, those who buy pints and pies can indeed end up higher in the queue for tickets than someone who does go away regularlyish. it doesn't drink at Selhurst. I don't think the idea of points 'dropping off' after say a period of 5 years is a bad one, as it will combat the possibility of younger guys missing out on bigger games. Right now though the system is simply based on spend, and that makes the club look like a supermarket. It is the kind of thing we would happily slag off bigger clubs for, and accuse them of losing touch with their fans.

Those who sat in Newcastle airport for six hours on the Saturday evening the weekend before Christmas waiting for the delayed EasyJet flight after a rubbish 1-0 defeat might take issue with this description......

I just phoned them. Got through after about 4 minutes on hold and sorted it out within a minute. Very easy. So unfortunate the online system can't be that straight forward.

Sorted on the phone for 10 minutes.

They split the STs on to each individual account. Why that wasn't done in the first place I do not know. Made it so much easier.

the tour of the academy, name on the wall, free -23 games are all well and good but i cant quite believe the added bonus of 500 parish points to tempt fans to part with their refund. talk about recent bandwagon fans jumping the que for priority away tickets. working class loyal fans of many years could now find themselves down the pecking order for key games because someone following the club since 2013 who is not affected financially by the corona crisis can afford to wave his/her refund. pies and ale/wine/merchandise has always made the parish points system a mockery but this latest stunt is something else

Anyone had their money yet?

My Bournemouth ticket was refunded within 48 hours so I was hoping (albeit with blind faith) it might be the same with the STs.

I appreciate they've got a new system and there are more requests to process but it'd be nice to know roughly how long we have to wait.

When I applied I am pretty sure it said something like the 23rd July but I can’t remember exact details.

I went for the credit for next seasons ST but Im starting to wonder if loyalty points will be the way that they decide priority for tickets if the home capacity is massively reduced and they opt for game by game sales. Everything is so uncertain at the moment its difficult to know what will happen
