Not sure about this, the way some people go on they think we should be kicking on and aiming for Europe

Seemed to work well for Liverpool in the "boot room" era, when a club philosophy succession arrangements were put in place, but it requires a long term buy in, which we haven't sought. Maybe clubs' circumstances and football's culture have changed too much for it to work now.

I accept that the last high profile bit of succession planning - Fergie to Moyes at Man U - was hardly a success.

Yes it did, but for us I assume we would be preparing Richard Shaw for the step up. What are peoples thoughts on this?

I've never even considered this before but am immediately pro the idea over promoting Freedman to the role.

Well the FYP must surely be near completion and surely Roy has learned that you CAN make substitutions BEFORE 75 minutes. So we're champion's league for sure this season

For me, Roy gets to stay for as long as he wants to continue in the game.

Can we think of Any club that has avoided relegation with having an attack that does NOT score goals for TWO seasons? take away Zaha's contributions and goals and Luka's penalties and we would have been doomed. RH made it quite clear to the Board at the start of last season that we desperately need strengthening and that coming after pulling of a miraculous escape against all the odds the previous season yet was ignored but still saved us. And guess what, to date he is still being ignored eventhough we brought in £50m from AWB sale plus moved on several players to reduce wages, and if we now sell our ONE true Star how is he expected to function fully if adequate replacements are Not brougt in? these are the issues fans need to ask when demanding his head instead of realising we have a man that has Palace in his blood even at 71yrs old has found the energy to lift the club.
This is his last season when he should be showing how much he is appreciated and be backed, plus remembered even with his short legacy keeping Palace up was an achievement in itself under very trying circumstances.
Having previously respected hodgson and backed him when he first came in. Ive probaly been one of his biggest critics since half way through the last season. Although i did have doubts about us keeping him on for a full season after taking over from de boer purely because of how he comes across in terms of the way he generates energy to the squad and how soft he comes across towards the players. However i do very much agree with most of what you have just said. I do however belief he has no plan b and is continuously maikng the same mistakes such as playing players that are continously underperforming and the big one for me the extreemly late subs. For me sooner or later its going to backfire. There are problems in every department in the club at the moment. I.E recruitment, wanting to sell. there is things that hodgson needs to take responseibilty for. It will be very intresting next season to see what once the window shuts what he has to work with and how he approaches games and his decision making during games. If we have a brilliant season then he has proved a lot of pepole wrong including myself. But if we struggle which i think the first 10 games will determine our ssason both on and off the field it could be very different. Another problem hodgson faces is he can come across very easy to read in terms of the way he approches games. I really hope as a club overall we upgrade of the pitch aswell as on it and dont make the same miatakes as we always do and giving ourselves a task of drawing away from the relegation fight because that is a habit we should of got rid of about 3 seasons ago.

How many professional football teams have you ever managed FFS?

Very under-appreciated manager. Never want to see Freedman managing the club again.

Due to all the over spending before he joined he's not been backed much at all by the club really. Keeping us up comfortably in that time is really a big achievement.

He really does need to resolve our poor home form though and doing this without Wilf will be a major challenge, assuming he does go.

I also don't think there's another manager in the world with the patience to put up with our late transfer dealings.

Hodgson hasn’t a clue.
I don’t mean how to manage a football club, I mean with only a few weeks to the beginning of a new season he hasn’t a clue who will be in his team let alone what style or formation to play. There seems to be no communication between him and the likes of Parish and Freedman. In a recent interview he stated that we have three defenders injured and will be picking from bare bones at the start of the season.
I think if anything it will be him that makes the choice to go or stay and not the club.

Nice selective quoting. I notice you decided to miss out the crucial bits where he said we need reinforcements and he's relying on Steve and Dougie to get the players he needs. It's not at all clear to me what you're trying to say here.

Just because Roy wont tell the world everything that's going on behind the scenes, doesn't mean he doesn't know. I've no doubt he's well aware of what's going on and what the plan is, he's just chosen to be selective with what he say's in an interview.
