I think the club should pay whatever it takes to sign one of jack clarke or summerville for the left wing. It's a great long term investment and should have done it last summer instead of henderson... even if we go down these are guys who would light it up in the championship.

Probably need CM cover too I like the idea of on loan. We are a hughes or lerma injury away from total disaster there. I'd love to see a cheap veteran LB for cover as well. I think RB may have to wait as we do not have a natural LW or cover at CM or LB. Even though ward is off the pace these days probably have to muddle along there and prioritize other areas with us already having him and clyne. Clyne is faster so it might be time to make the switch to him as ward ages out

Clearly we need a midfielder now, a RB, a winger and a striker. I can't see Parish targeting anything above a squad filler. They had the whole of the summer (plus the end of last season) to address these issues

Any midfielder would be a loan most likely. Doucoure will be back next season, we have Lerma, Ahamada, Schlupp and Hughes, plus Ozoh developing. Unless we plan on releasing Hughes we would still be well stocked in centre midfield.

It’s not a creative midfield though. We could really do with a prime time McArthur or Cabaye type of player alongside Doucoure and Eze imo.

I will save most of you a lot of heartache and despair by predicting the following:

We will get linked with one or 2 players that may be interesting. We won't sign them.

We might get a loan in, and that's it

We buy who is available for a position we need at a price we perceive to give us value for money. If no-one fits that criteria, we don't buy.

It's pretty simple although it seems to piss people off. Nevertheless, it's not their money so that's tough titty really.

There must be a few relatively cheap right back options out there that would walk into the team. Sunderland's right back Trai Hume, 21 year old Northern Ireland international - instrumental in their 2-0 win vs Denmark recently, has been playing rather well this season. He has also started 4 games at left back for Sunderland in the Championship this season and should be able to cover there too. He seems to be defensively solid according to FBRef: To view the link you have to Register or Login

Agree and hope it’s a decent experienced ready to start loan. Eg Donny Beek fella or the like as an example. like to think we’d go back for the PSG lad but he ain’t match fit.
Need to get some points on the board be safe and use the tail end of the season to see if Hamanda, Ozoh, JRS , Tayo and Bola can cut it.
Not securing Hall and PSG youngster and injuries will probably have cost us pushing on this year so must use season wisely. Whether Roy would be prepared to do such will depend on his remit i suggest from the board

As i mentioned previously should Man Utd come in for Guehi as apparently he has been made their no.1 priority signing as early as the January window, then we should use the opportunity to prise away AWB and Diallo along with an additional fee as part of the deal.
That then sorts out Two vital areas which badly need strengthening in the side RB and Winger, importantly done with class signings.
To cover for the loss of Guehi, we should give Richards his opportunity as it is about time we saw just what he is truly capable of producing, but also in having the under rated Holding and Tomkins in reserve is more than adequate cover, but if the experiment does not work out there is the summer window to rectify.
We now have genuine quality in midfield for the foreseeable future with Both the outstanding talents of Eze and Olise signing long extensions, plus having the talented Franca to come to the foe but giving him the time for now to blossom further first.
However, i would say we are still short of that One player in Midfield to take us to the next level and that player for me without hesitation to bring in is the classy Smith-Rowe who is up for grabs and a player we should Not miss out on, simply by using part of the Guehi fee received to sign him.
Finally without question a "proper" leader of the line Centre Forward is needed which to me would be the ideal foil for Edouard and probably make him a better goalscorer especially when playing off a player that can screen the ball, and that player now that he is back fully fit is Borja, we should make every effort to sign him initially on loan for the rest of the season with hopefully an agreement to sign in the summer.
So with not much of an outlay we could assemble a side those Four players, and with say Graham Potter in charge Next season as i am sure Roy will call it a day, we would have a side well capable of doing what Villa or Brighton are achieving currently.
How exciting that would be.

I refuse to get my hopes up. Too many memories of being linked with everyone under the sun only for the window to end and hear that January isn't a great time to do business.

That's no surprise, the chaotic way Man Utd are going about things where nobody knows who's in or who's out with the manager's handling of players.
A good example of that is the Right Back situation, AWB came in and produced outstanding performances then gets dropped, Dalot comes back in and now we hear they are looking for another "top class right back"

The problem with AWB is that he's on big (relative to us) wages. I can't see us making a RB one of our highest earners, it's not a position that provides enough value to the team. Simply wouldn't happen, that would be like buying a backup keeper and making him our highest earner

Just spotted this on X the website formerly known as "Twitter" -

Chelsea have decided internally to recall Andrey Santos from his Nottingham Forest loan due to his limited playing time.

Could this be our Chelsea loan for the remainder of the season?

Apart from the January windows in 2014 (Pulis) and 2017 (Allardyce) our record in other January transfer windows is poor

Players we have signed in the other windows include
Jordon Mutch
Shola Ameobi
Yaya Sanogo (loan)
Emmanuel Adebayor
Erdak Rakip (loan)
Jaroslav Jach
CenkTosun (loan)
Jean-Phillipe Mateta (Loan Jan 21, Permanent Jan 22)
Albert Sambi Lokonga

If we are to continue with this quality of signings we should keep the money in the bank

Yes you raise a valid point, however we keep hearing rumours within the club that we would like AWB to return, clearly we would be aware of his wages yet show an interest? make of that what you will.

AWB's current wages are at a similar level to Edouard, Andersen, Olise, Eze, Lerma, Henderson and Holding.

MU have a year option on his contract so he'd be £30m or more.

AWB won’t be anywhere near £30M , if he’s even put up for sale in the first place

+£40M all day & will only attract certain teams at that price , & that’s not US

I agree with you, we can't afford him. Was simply saying that the wages we dished out in the summer were roughly what AWB is earning now.
