Predictions of sky-high valuations have been commonplace during bitcoin's past rallies. A Citi analyst said in November 2020 that bitcoin could climb as high as $318,000 by the end of 2022. It closed last year down about 65% at $16,500.

Predictions are not to be relied on. However past performance is a much more robust guide. Bitcoin is the best performing asset of 2023 as it has been for past 14 years.

I'm just quoting the 4-month-old article you posted. Which of the 2 predictions in it should I pay more heed to?

None. Do your own research. The significance of these predictions is that it’s international banks who are projecting their optimistic forecasts about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is no longer niche as will be proven when the Bitcoin ETF is launched in the US in the next few months.

Bitcoin puts all that annoying excess energy to good use. Saving the planet. Essentially btc is actually a co2 scrubber

On what basis?

Have you sold your house and put it on? Six fold gains aren’t to be sniffed at.

I dont have btc but unless something happens to derail I'd be surprised if btc didn't hit 100k, or 99.9 of there is a gargantuan sell wall there in the next 18 months. The cycles are reasonably consistent and 100k is less than 3x now. Compared to historical gains in these cycles that's pretty modest.

Of course you havw the threat of regulation, global security/recession, musk, environmental pressure etc. Something significant could change it. As it is, good old fashioned greed will drive it north of 100k imo.

It'll drag the rest of the market with it. Within that there will be a few from lower down tbe ranks that massively out perform it but picking whihc is a gamble.

100k sounds a lot but it's not really at this point. The 300k/1m type speculation is click bait and dreams this cycle. The 100k is perfectly reasonable

You say ‘historically’. There hasn’t been much history to go on tbf. You could have said the same about tulip bulbs after the crash.
