Off to read the fine print...
The big difference between the two options for me is that there won't be access to replays with matchday pass. I need that for weekday games where I can't watch live because I'm at work.

A comparison of the two passes is here:

On balance I think I’ll go with the Premier League Pass although the price increase is bad news.
I did email them and ask if this season you would be able to directly hook up the iPad to the TV and watch on a big screen. The answer was no - you would still need Apple TV or similar. That’s mean.

For me the Replay component is important too as I'm often committed to other things at kick-off. As we were on "Gold" quite a bit last season, I think $60 is reasonable...

Thanks for the link SP.

Agree that the Replay option might be the clincher, as I needed that a couple of times last season.

Still, much like cable TV, there are a lot of extras there that I doubt I will use or have need of, but for $20 difference... what the hey!

It also looks like the Matchday Pass will have adverts inserted into the stream (I assume just at half-time). The more expensive Premier League pass will be commercial-free!

$60 for the ability to watch Palace at my leisure? This is a bargain.

You know it really is in the scheme of things.

I had 3x Gin & Tonics last week at $15.00 a pop and an $80 bottle of wine with dinner without blinking... so yes $60 for all 38 Palace games live is a bargain... even if it will drive me to drinking more G&T's! (Hopefully home made ones, and not at 9 o'clock in the morning!)

I link my PC and laptop to the big screen via a simple HDMI cable - both in the UK and the USA.

I think you just need something like this for your iPad:

Thanks.I have a cable like that and it worked fine in the first year of NBC coverage but then they did something to stop you doing that. I guess they donít want to reduce the number of viewers watching the main game on NBC Sports as that affects advertising revenues.

What are the audience figures for this coverage nowadays ?
A few years back it was under a million. Presumably improved on that ?

If you just sign up for the Matchday Pass you will only be able to watch the game while it is being played (Live). You will not be able to see a replay or watch it after the game. Also you maybe subject to adverts while watching - not sure what this is actually... might be banner across the top or bottom, or in a square in the corner. Nobody knows.

If you sign up for the Premier League Pass, you get no adverts, and the ability to watch replays, or watch the game whenever at your convenience after the event.

Disclaimer: This is only my understanding, and may well be wrong.

Excellent. So basically Premier League Pass is the way to go, even with the price increase
