Just improving home results, and keep Wilf. That'd do me.

I’m hoping we avoid another half and half season for the first time. So a solid 11th place for me with the results spread out more evenly. Also time for a ‘proper’ forward to be our leading scorer.

It's not like we are overachieving.

I too believe even this current squad could be Top 8 if things click into place. COYP.
To put the champagne football into context all our players were fit after a long run of injuries. Other than the Brighton game we beat Huddersfield who were in freefall, a Leicester team that were on holiday, and two teams; Stoke and WBA who were relegated.

It wasn't the hardest run-in, but I'm not sure that's an entirely fair analysis

- Hudderfield weren't in freefall at all - they'd got seven points from the preceding four games; and got a further six from the seven games after they played us - including being the last team other than us to get anything at the Etihad, and a draw at Stamford Bridge.

- Stoke were fighting for their lives when we played them, so not an easy game

- And West Brom were on a great run when we played them, with 11 points from their previous five games; although of course their relegation having been confirmed may have knocked the stuffing out of them.

Leicester probably were on holiday, but we always stuff them anyway

Thank you

It's not even about who we were playing anyway, often we come up against lower league opposition in cups and struggle! The point is we played well, extremely well. I'm not saying we beat the best but I think we played the most aesthetically pleasing football that Palace have ever managed to produce in the top flight. There was real tiki-taka stuff, and then Benteke to change the course of games when necessary - although obviously on the latter point many will disagree with me.

Next season I would like:

- Not to be threatened by relegation (although I don't think we were ever in the bottom three, we spent longer looking over over our shoulders at the teams below us than up at the teams above us);
- Have a reliable 12-15 goal striker (Batshuayi);
- Significantly improve our home form;
- Keep Wilf.

Statistically:

- Win more games than we lose;
- Have positive goal difference;
- Average >50% possession.

I know that's one heck of a wish list and we'd be absolutely flying to get anywhere close to it, but the close season is the time to dream!

For me there are two scenario's, one where we keep Wilf and have a solid season in mid table, the other where we lose Wilf and we'll be firefighting near the drop zone until we eventually fall through the trap door either straight away or with the next few seasons.

Wilf is responsible for so much of our attacking play I can't really see how we can realistically cope without him. It's so hard to buy quality attacking players for a club like us that really our only long term survival strategy is to keep him at all costs.

Hopes for next season

Improvements that need to be made this summer/pre-season:

•Address the lack of balance in the midfield when we dominate the ball. This is where the problem lies with our home form. We need a player that can do both defend and pass. Would not be adverse to a player like Mooy. We need more creativity and ingenuity when we have no choice but to dominate the ball and unlock defences.
•Replace Batshuyai- yes I know he didn’t offer much else up front but he sure knew where the goal was. He scored goals that’s for sure.
•Sort out the set pieces - abysmal this season.
•Sort out the thrown ins - too slow, no urgency, we lose the ball in vulnerable positions.
•PVA has no competition at left back, sign someone with potential.
•Sign another CB and winger. Need to keep the squad small and close knit but with competition for places.
•Keep AWB.
•Somehow keep Wilf as Wilfried Zaha’s do not grow on trees.

Oh, and maybe not just have game plan A: 'counter attack'. It would be nice to adapt to a possession based game plan when teams sit behind the ball at Selhurst. Some element of style development, and a possible plan B, would be nice to witness at home from time to time.
