A really shite move

Why do these managers join clubs in decline, it’s incredibly difficult to turn it around. Plus when a club has over achieved they are always on a hiding to nothing to get them back there. It might be a bit more money but it’s a thoroughly thankless task that ends careers before they got started.

Also see the bloke that dumped Luton for Stoke, and a bloke a few years ago that literally ran up the M1 to join Bolton from a club hunting PL promotion, forgotten his name.

Didnít that manager claim he needed to feed his kids or something like that. Heard he ended up on the managerial scrap heap and is now the sporting director at the club he originally left. That club is now in its 7th season in the PL.

Iím not so sure this is a shit move for them. Not if you look beyond the ďrelegated club looking to bounce backĒ.

Huddersfield have been shit for over 18 months now, despite staying up the first season. Their one stand out player is out on loan, and they have a squad that makes ours look balanced. They didnít spend much when in the Premier League, but generally what they did bring in was overpriced and underperformed. They havenít moved a great deal on following relegation, at least not many of the bigger earners, as no-one was interested, and even their own fans didnít expect a promotion challenge.

To that end the Cowleyís, to me, are in a no-lose situation. The club is in such a mess following Wagner, Siewart and the sale that anything that goes wrong can (pretty fairly) be laid at the door of someone else. And if they do well, it will pretty much be solely down to them.

The club is a mess, and the players have zero confidence. To achieve a mid table finish would be a good season for them IMO.

Which of us would have turned down such a deal. He was on £140k at Lincoln which is excellent money but not enough to set his family up for life. He is on over £1m p.a. at Huddersfield. So over the, I think, 3 year contract he has signed, he is guaranteed £3m even if he fails.
He doesn't have the background of having been a well paid player. He was a PE teacher until a few years ago. This deal does secure his family's financial future.

Thank god, he has gone to fail somewhere else not at Palace. He isn’t ready to manage in the Premier.

Definitely a bullet dodged here!

Reading some people responses is amusing. Form team in the Championship. Lost the first 2 and now unbeaten in 7 and rising through the league. Think there is a reasonable chance they will make the playoffs this season.

Absolute mess of a situation to take over and he's turned them right around. Fair play to the bloke, it'll be interesting to see how he carries them for the rest of the season.

Lincoln my family come from there my cousin big imps fan gutted when they left. they where flying, big crowds whole community was behind the club. Sadly money talks and the Cowleys went. I mentioned them for us a year ago.
They create a very effective team using thier tactics. this can only go so far with limited player abilities. really like to see them with quality players see what they could do

Essex boys innit.

The Dildo Twins have delusions of grandeur though, they will be thinking they can attach the cream of European managerial talent to the Olympic Stadium.
