Yeah definitly right. Far to much for a player a year off his prime. Are there no 12 year olds we can sign?

Guess you didnt listen to the owners when they took control, that sort of money will only be spent on players who will increase greatly in value.

Would be very surprised to see him sign.

Signing footballers is a gamble. Not sure how you would ever be able to reach that outcome every time.

Agreed but signing someone at their peak will rarely result in making back a profit.

Even though I agree with your logic we can't always spend minimal fees for unproven young players/ lower league players and get veterans on freebies. If we want to push on as a club we need to get proven, top quality Championship players (i.e. Baptiste), and go for promotion. We'll always be safe in the knowledge that we can sell Wilf, Williams etc for a lot more money than we spend. Not my money though, so it's easy to speak.

Must be in one of the papers for Monk to say this. Also won't happen if Monk says it will.

Murray is a good example of one of those rare occasions. . I know he was free but even if we had paid a million he is worth more now.

He is a decent player, but not sure if WE should invest 1m as it is not a priority area to invest that amount. As on paper we have a fairly solid CB group, just a pity McCarthy has not returned from injury, as alongside Delaney could have been a good pairing. However, i would not be averse to bringing back Egan from Sunderland as i feel he would complement Delaney with his style of play.

Could be improved though, we are fine when taking the game to the opposition, but when old habits of sitting back return I don't think we are that solid.

Baptiste is a quality player.

We've got a lot of Championship standard centre halves. We probably need a bigger centre half or a ball carrier if we're to buy another. Baptiste is certainly the latter. He's like an old-fashioned sweeper. Would improve our attacking play - I felt against Burnley we lacked the ability to get the ball from the defence to the midfield.

It's something we need to practice, with or without new additions.

I think signing him for 750k+ would solve our defensive problems for the next two seasons. Worth every penny.

That said I don't think we will be in the market if Paddy is fit soon. Too many Cb's at is it.
I thought it was unlikely Paddy was going to feature for the rest of the season?

Even if he did, I really can't seem him improving things, apart of course from having an extra option.
