Can't say I am overly impressed. Six years I have done this half, one year it was very long and three years now short!

Like you Gilesy, I keep getting PB's there too

Pretty fitting, that like it's football club - it keeps coming up short year after year!

The Liquidator and Glad All Over via the random button on my iPod during this afternoon's warm weather plodathon. Marvellous.

Done my knee, haven't been able to properly for a few weeks now. Should be doing 50 miles a week, not even going to do it in a month at this rate.

Likewise. Absolutely flannelled the Paddock Wood half on Sunday - started on course for 1.24 and ended up 1.30:49. Not sure whats wrong with me, my legs have been aching ever since as well. I have very tight left calf - which is still tender and IT Band pain on the outside of the knee.

If I run London it's going to be at training run pace and hope I last the course.

It's a long time since i posted on here. After several years of not running i want to start again. I've never been a serious runner. I've done about a dozen 10k races and one half marathon but that was 7 years ago (maybe six, i am old and have forgotten).

Anyway, i was going to use a couch to 5k app to get back into it nice and slow. Can anyone recommend one?

thanks in advance.

I got a 10k PB last week in the Civil Service Capital Challenge, 4 laps around the Olympic Park. Not the greatest course and a good 150m over 10k which annoyed me as my 37:11 should have been sub 37.

I used the NHS one. It's got Michael Johnson encouraging you. It's brilliant. Started it six months ago and am now doing 10k regularly.

Hot and tough out today. Not had a summer of running yet. Doesn't bode well.

I'd also recommend checking out your local Park Run once you're up to 5k it's a great way of measuring your improvement

I did it the year it was long and I think the first year that it was short. Never quite sure any are totally accurate. My running app measures Riddlesdown park run as 100m short and Banstead park run as 50m long and I always get a slightly different measurement to my running mates app

parkruns are fast and generally have trees in the way which affect GPS so it's not that reliable. With half marathons people tend to weave especially at the back to get past people so their watches normally make up the extra to show over half. All UKA events should be measured with a proper old school measuring wheel.

I recently ran a 5K where my watch hit three miles as I crossed the finish line. All sorts of folks were celebrating PBs! A friend who is a running coach was there and he said you can only run the course that is laid out for you by the organizers and you can claim any PB you wish. Bearing in mind that terrain and number of athletes can have such a profound effect upon your time, he recommends PB by course rather than distance. I am now looking to only run new courses so I can PB every time!

I haven't had a run for 10 day. I put my sacrum out wearing heels (I literally walked from cab to restaurant table & back again) the Saturday before last. So, so, so painful all through my right leg. I saw the osteo on Friday and seem to be sorted now so I'm back on it today. 3 weeks 5 days to my half.
