After being in South Africa for 3 weeks for their world cup, and seeing them produce a very very good and organised World Cup (from a supporter point of view), I would be surprised if England could organise one as good. However, I would love England to host it, as it would be something my son would never forget.

Can someone explain to me why Spain only need 3 votes? Im not sure I understand?

Why not? I only ask as I am abivalent about it. On the one hand it would be nice to have it at home but on the other I think FIFA are ****s and watching governments almost beg 22 men is an embarrasement. I would prefer it go to Holland, nice short trip away gives it a littloe adventure but you can be home for tea.

As I understand Adlerhorst's post it's because they've already got 9 votes as a result of publically acknowledged deals with South American members and the Qatar deal.

I think that sounds like the best plan, but sadly I don't think they are likely to win. Spain is a relatively easy trip. Russia a pain in the arse.

it would be a MUCH better world cup in spain or portugal

i'd feel sorry for some of the supporters having to go to bristol, plymouth, liverpool, sunderland or milton keynes, compared to malaga, valencia, barcelona, madrid, etc etc

there's no comparison

Just think of the open season on FIFA from the press if we don't get it. Also how about the FA pulling some of the overseas training it does if we don't.

Here's hoping we win. Excellent presentations by Beckham and Cameron. William was OK but hopefully he's done all of the behind the scenes stuff.

Spain and Qatar have arranged a vote swapping deal. It is all a bit murky but those who have agreed to vote for Spain will vote for Qatar and those who have agreed to vote for Qatar will vote for Spain.

This was a week ago, now believed to be nine votes.

Expect them both to be the leaders after round one. Not sure if we get round by round results or not.

World cups tend to bring out the worst in this country.

Yes, but why should they get the 2018 WC ?

1. Their economies are in an absolute state (They're about to be bailed out like the Irish)
2. They only had the Euro Champs 2 years ago
3. Spain last had the WC 16 years after Ours
4. It seems like they have colluded with the Qatar bid for 2022.
5. Apparently their presentation was the worst of the 4

They can't just hold the WC because their nice Countries with good climates

Why what happened in 1966? Or did you mean any world cup in any country?

2004 lives long in the memory. Technically European championship, but you know what I mean.

No, but the reaction was.

I cannot see how having the tournament here will do anything but increase the potential problem.

I just posted this on the wikileaks thread, don't know if it has been mentioned here.

I don't think Russia are likely to win, but if they did they would be the perfect country for FIFA to do business with.
