The main cause of the crushing at Loftus Road was that the game was not all-ticket and there was not enough room on the terrace for the amount of Palace fans that the police had allowed through the turnstiles.
To cram more fans in the police were physically pushing the fans at the back forward and as a result the fans down the front were being crushed, several police were injured when the Palace fans pushed back to gain some breathing space thus pinning the police who were pushing at the back against a wall. Some fans down at the front were forced to climb onto the pitch to escape the crush. This happened before the match had even kicked off and there was another pitch invasion at the end of the match after former Palace player Clive Allen stupidly incited the Palace fans with his goal celebration after scoring a late winner for QPR. |

Why don't they make it official and change the stadium name to Loftus Road retirement home?

Aren't they in violation of financial foul play in the championship, possibly to the tune of 50m?

That was the rumour but how the football league retrieve £50m from a premier league club is unclear.

Administration would not be an option as the transfer of the golden share neccesitates all football creditors being paid in full. All their player debts, transfer debts and the fine owed to the FL would make that almost impossible i would have thought. Interesting to watch it play out. |

As an extreme option, they could issue High Court proceedings against them for breach of contract. The Rules by which the clubs agreed to be bound are, in effect, a contract. It's for that reason that Sheff. U managed to get the West Ham payout - breach of contract, by way of breaching the Rules as between the clubs, which led to a loss for Sheff. U. Whether the court would consider the FFP sanctions to be an unfair penalty clause, and whether the League would fancy the legal fight to enforce, however, is a completely different matter.

I think a points deduction system should be introduced.
Any loss of above £5 million should be 1 point deducted Hence if you have a £10 million loss per year then you have a 5 point deduction. |

When Palace received a points deduction for going into administration everyone said it was wrong. However, we had essentially spent money we didn't have, on theoretically better players in able to compete at a level that we would not have been able to had we operated at a sustainable level.
I know it is not that simple, but it's easy to chat about points deductions when it isn't your club. |

In 2010 Palace were mainly in debt to Simon Jordan (circa £20m?) and to Agilo (under £7m?). Ultimately the smaller debt was what sunk us.
Numerous clubs owe vastly more money than the figures which got Palace into Admin - Man United for example must owe hundreds of millions!!
