What standard do you reckon the women's game is at, compared to men's? As in, if some of these World Cup teams were in a men's league, what level would they be at where they were competitive (at least avoiding relegation)?
Some looked league two technically but there the physical aspect that I imagine would lead to a women's team under performing compared to their actual footballing ability, just because a men's team is likely to be physically stronger, faster etc.
what do you think?

I'm guessing it's somewhere around Womens team = Mens team 3 leagues below, Youth side

a professional club youth team from any division would annihilate them, they would be quicker, bigger, faster , stronger, have superior technique, the tackling would be of a level they've never experienced, most women's teams have a keeper who is about 5 feet, a mens team would pepper that kind of keeper with crosses, chips and shots, only a matter of time before a thrashing would ensue, also they would very much struggle to keep possession for any amount of time at all, watching the rerun of our own youth team when they beat Millwall earlier this season was very impressive, the womans WC winners wouldn't have lived with that kind of opposition

fitness levels are completely on a different level also, virtually all players even if they never made the grade as pro footballers are extremely talented athletes all the way from 100m to middle distance, players like Bale/Ox/Walcott/Zaha etc would have been hitting close to 11 secs as teenagers over 100m, players like Darren Anderton/ Beckham were brilliant cross country runners and middle distance runners, youth teams even from a 3rd Division club academy would have a range of players with these type athletic skills mentioned

Agree with most of the above. My fiance played in the Women's premier league until a couple of years ago. Some of the top players are technically excellent however the difference physically is so big the Englands womens team could never really compete against even a conference side.

also bear in mind 99.9% of woman's teams have terrible goalkeepers!

gauging a match between the woman's WC winners and say a side from Div3 would be difficult, as the men would probably treat it close to a testimonial, there would be no elbow/ forearm smashes to the face, niggly tackles, slide tackles a'la Stuart Pearce/Julian Dicks/Paul Hinshlewood! leaving players over the advertising haordings, they would win nothing in the air etc

To be fair, I think referees in general are poor in both men's and women's football right now

Yeah I'm probably exaggerating the Women's teams level. One of the players said they sometimes played mens youth teams though - I think it was to toughen them up, but I don't know what the scores would be.

This also happened, the video is just as bad as the photo. She just flicked it over the French woman with her hand:

The England game on at the moment is the first women's game I have watched in years. I have to say it's quite entertaining.

The standard of play has gone up massively since I last watched a game.

2-1 now come on England. I met Steph haughto about 5 years ago we chatted for 10-15 minutes about football and her passion and love of the game would put many guys to shame. Plus she is quite fit.
