RH has just said the fans must thinking we have found a Centre forward in Ayew and that's the Managements views as well . RH said Ayew was excellent .

I like him, very tricky customer. Fantastic link up play with very limited options in the midfield, imagine if we get Meyer in the mix pushing further forwards with Zaha and Townsend out wide. We'll start to be a threat from every angle again.

Did very well today.

Nice to have a forward with a bit of pace and movement put himself about and ran into decent areas. Caused Huddersfield trouble.

Deserves to keep his place in the side on that showing.

Well it’s a game of opinions. I was there and both myself and those I was with thought we lacked strength with him upfront, Can’t argue that he worked hard but all this talk of linking with Wilf etc sorry none of us in the car on the way back agree on that

Zero service in first half but thought he ran some good lines in the second (and the first but never saw the ball), when we marginally improved. Too early to tell really. Not particularly sharp pace wise but hopefully that will improve. Really need that midfield passer.

For me, I think he should be competing for Townsend's place in the side rather than Benteke. Thought we missed Benteke today personally.

Think he was decent, and did phenomenally well at winning long balls considering it’s not what you’d expect of him vs 2 big strong centre halves.

Yep, the only game we won Last year in which Benteke didn't even come on (from a quick look) was one single goal victory over Chelsea. Even ones we did win where he didn't start were nearly all a bit "dead rubber" at the season's end. I know it's all very much "elephant in the room" territory but most savvy fans know that if we can't even start Benteke (given Wickham is in Teacher Training and Sorloth not considered PL ready), we have admitted we are in no mans land until the next window. Without the physical presence up top we are not top 10 material end of. Ayew or no Ayew. If Benteke even got back to @10 for the season we suddenly become a very good well balanced outfit.

Im grateful we have him on loan. He held the ball up well today and looks like he can take it past a player. He will grow and improve in our side.

As said before, Ayew runs around and what I have seen so far is he TRIES all the time. CB has a built in laziness now, that is being exposed as we have alternatives.

The CB we have is a poor version of the one Villa had

I don't think we missed Benteke, so much as a player of his ilk

Bar that period with Wilf and Andros up front last season, where we did so well, we have played with a conventional 9 for a long time and there were times when it seemed the rest of the team forgot that Ayew isn't that kind of player

I thought he did ok, in a very poor team performance where service to him was far worse than anything Benteke has ever had.

Worked hard, and caused a few problems

Barely touched the ball, but held he ball up well on one occasion which led to an opportunity, and passed the ball to Zaha who went on the score.
