Same thing happened when Pardew first went there.

Tis true.

My son has a few Reading mates and they were even moaning when Pardew got them promoted because "the football was boring".

Sorry, I know it's been done before but it needs to be done again.

I'm not sure such a thing can be true.

They have been starting to see some of his potential over the last month or so. He was fantastic against Chelsea and seems to now be getting a bit of a run in the first team. Well done Clinton.

There is no direct connection between administrators and sales. The role of the administrators is to run the company for the benefit of the creditors whilst trying to sort out any mess and find a buyer for the company as a going concern. So, in fact there would be limit on the players the administrators of a football club would sell, because if they sold too many the team would become non-viable, the company would cease as a going concern and the administrators would have failed.

It would then be the turn of the liquidators - their job would be to sell the used paper clips if they could find a buyer!!

Have to disagree here, if keeping the club viable means cutting more day to day costs then getting people off the payroll is the way to do it. As long as they have enough plauyers to still field a team, more sales could well be made.

That is the perfect description of the INdirect link which does exist. Selling players is not the role of the administrator, keeping the company afloat is, in order to keep the company afloat one option is to sell assets. The players are the main asset of the company, but they are also vital for the companies survival. The administrators will follow all available routes - such as sacking non-playing staff and reducing overheads on a broad base - before resorting to the sale of players, and especially to the wholesale transfers. It is possible - although unlikely - that administrators could come in and do their job without selling a single player.

The original point was simply that the presenece of administrators does not equate to a desire to sell players.

Wimbledon are now quite close to coming out of administration, according to all the stories and info up this way. Indeed, they might achieve it within the next couple of weeks. The consortium being put together to buy the club is run by Pete Winkleman, the same man who put forward the new stadium development plan (which was finally passed by Milton Keynes Council a couple of weeks ago) that attracted Wimbledon up here in the first place. So, he has a good incentive for keeping them going.

But he's no fool, and the administrators obviously saw the need to clear a proportion of the debts before they could recommend acceptance of the deal to the Courts - as administrators are required to do. Hence the recent player sales. I'm not sure if they truly need to sell another one - particularly if such a small sum would be realised by it - but I don't know that for certain.

Having seen Wimbledon a few times since they moved up here, I couldn't honestly recommend any of their defenders

Two of whom are tipped for not getting a new contract at the end of the season. Having said that don't rate Nosworthy as anything special. Butterfield backed up by Togwell looks okay.
