Doing my 350th Park Run at Beckenham next Saturday. Over the last few years I've been dogged by injury but since xmas I've been able to run without too many niggles. Managed 19m dead in the PR a few weeks back, and yesterday did the Orpington High Elms 10k. Got round in just over 45 mins but it is seriously tough. Anyone here do it?

Ah nice! How did you get away at Clayton? I ran off into the night not really knowing my way to Hassocks Station. And was on the main a road running with head torch. DOH. Left Washington at about 5:40 - and got to Clayton / Jack & Jill for about the last fading light.

Was a sight looking back and seeing all the headtorches marking the descent of the last big hill.

Had the car, my partner dropped me off at DD then drove to Clayton. Then we exchanged pacing duties. She paced him to Southease where I picked her up.

We arrived at Clayton with probably another 30-45 mins of light before headtorches would have to come out. When we did it last year it was dark by then so he was a good hour or two ahead of last years time.

Half want to do it again to get a better time but takes a lot of time training properly.

Get a running cap if you sweat heavily from the head like I do. Keeps it out of your eyes. I take it off at the end and itís drenched

Did first 5k last night, about 35 minutes, the last 500m was tough, but give it another week or so and pacing myself, getting the breathing right, I'll attempt the local parkrun.

Having not really done anything much since the Croydon schools cross country championships, this is quite something for a little bald fat man!

Congrats on 350!

I hope the park dries up by Saturday. I ran through it last night, and approaching the bit where the course narrows between the two fields - well, I was running at least ankle deep in water. Just thought I'd let you know.

I was at a Wedding in Edinburgh last year, and due to not getting to the city till late, and going boozing straight away, followed by a wedding the next day, then an early leave, I thought I'd take my running kit to see the city pre-wedding.

******* hell. Lovely city, but it's not half hilly. Even worse when you've been on a 14 hour booze-athon!

Congrats!

Was it at Bethlem Hospital, Beckenham? There was a guy there celebrating 350.

Bethlem PR is very pleasant. You congregate quite a walk from Monks Orchard Rd, then all walk around 200m along a woodland path to the start. And no dogs are allowed unless they explicitly have certification from the hospital! It all feels very novel.

It's very narrow at the start, which is a problem if you're looking for a quick getaway. I was right at the back and it took a good several hundred metres to get any clear space. Wasn't an issue for me as I was only ambling around to check it out, but do bear in mind if you're going along for the first time. Very well organised and marshalled.

10k at Victoria Pk tomorrow.

Richmond 10k - managed a pb in 42:08 - just the 3 and a half minutes quicker than last year which shows how much London took out of me.

Nice one . 41:40 for me over the fast and wide tarmac at Victoria Park. It's a good PB course I think - perhaps almost as good as the Sri Chimroy races at Battersea Park. Was 4 minutes faster than my last 10k in the wind and the rain at QEP several months ago, so pleased with the progress. Another one in a month at Elmbridge, Walton-on-Thames.

South Hackney (Victoria Park village if you're an estate agent) to the North of Victoria Park is bloody nice. Had a cracking Pain au Raisin there after the race.

Managed a pb of 22:54 on my 5k run today, which passed through the previous best by close to a minute. 37:19 for whole 8km.

Checked Endomondo and i'm on 82km for June!!

What's everyone's average monthly distance?

That's quite a log.

At the moment I usually get 12-15 miles pw. Parkrun at the weekend, and a couple of lunchtime runs at work, which max out at 6m on account of time.

Kids impact running opportunities!!

3.5 miles last night, 5.6k, fairly comfortable, around 40 minutes of run time, certainly ready to attempt a park run in the next week or two

Its hard to keep up mileage after marathon training especially as focusiing on the shorter stuff (5/10km ) for summer, but still managing to hit 50 miles as week.
