One of CPFC2010's quotes (relating to something else) was,.."It has to be done right, not necessarily right now".
CPFC have accepted there is nowhere else appropriate to start from scratch. So we have an existing stadium/plot of land , in a largely residential area.
The multiple concerns that have to be addressed, (but not limited to)

* Devising a plan that keeps the stadium in use - Health and Safety
* Getting planning approval from Croydon - and all the conditions that they may put on stadium development
* Funding - in short and medium term
* preserving our Premiership status

There are loads of problems associated with the above, so are not simplistic problems on their own.

Don't expect any news soon.

Regards the houses on Park Road....

Once the new Main Stand is built (!) then their view changes from that at the top of this plan (current), to that at the bottom (proposed)….

Probably wishful thinking, but I'd like to think that the extra 5 or so floors of stand height (cutting out a significant amount of their early evening sunlight) would be a consideration for increasing the height of the Arthur Wait side at some point?

I'm not sure whether the 'we've already made it a bit shit for you, so surely it's now ok to make it a lot shit' argument is the best ever

I thought that building won't start until summer 2020? As I read it, Standard thinks it'll start this summer??

If you live in Park Road then you surely already accept all the inconveniences of
living by a football ground anyway eg cannot park outside your house on a matchday, and the road being closed

Maybe the season ticket price rises are so we can buy up the neighbourhood!

The first shovel in the ground was to be during this Summer, but it will probably be slightly delayed.

Except whilst people don’t have the right to park their car outside their house, they do have laws such as Right to Light that have to be taken into consideration by the planners and council.

I don’t think the new Main Stand will effect that as it’s far enough away, but a new Arthur Stand could.

Article written by Polly Filler by the look of it. No mention as to ownership of the land it is being built on even. Puff piece probably written after looking on here.

Probably a lot of preparation work before any construction starts, site preparation, services, survey testing etc. I wouldn't dismiss the story out of hand, it looks as if they might have talked to the club about timing. If the Americans are looking to bale, actually starting the project (and working on the new training ground), might make Palace a more attractive buy.

They know we haven't got permission from the Mayor of London yet, and there's still the adjoining houses and residents to deal with as an absolute minimum. Not a cat in hells chance!!

Guy Wickett was quoted at some business meeting he spoke at recently, that it would be Summer 2020, and he's project managing it for CPFC so should know more than anyone!

A few posts up you were uncertain about everything, now suddenly you are certain - are you driving on the Damascus road ?
If you bothered to read my post, I was suggesting that there is probably a lot of practical preparation to do (including choosing contractors), before construction starts, which could probably be done before completion of Croydon council's requirements. None of us really know, do we ?

Also none of us know if Sainsbury's are still a major impediment or not. I really can't imagine Parish has quietly resolved that situation under everyone noses.

And Parish publicly said the start date for construction has slipped something like a year at the Christmas boxpark event or youth team Israel tournament, can't remember which. I just can't see how the Sainsbury's situation gets resolved even by then. I can only think he has genuinely gotten traction (or leverage) with them somehow.... but as I alluded above, I just don't see it.

Councils are really suffering at the moment with cuts. Can't we just bung Bromley £50mill and move back home to Crystal Palace Athletics stadium? So much room for a top stadium there.

Building a stadium there would also be my top choice but the weight of opposition from several parties (including the all powerful friends of crystal palace park) is so strong that it would be almost impossible unfortunately. I think a lot of the locals would be opposed to a load of football fans traipsing through the park every weekend and the potential for damage and general unpleasantness that would have...... And i can kind see their point, not that that means I think it can't be done personally.
