They're also building a new Overground station up the road, Meridian Water.

By comparison, a few weeks back the crowd leaving Selhurst station had to sidle single file past a rather large puddle from a burst gutter, treading on a rapidly disintegrating piece of MDF to circumvent the dreaded puddle.

That puddle is like a rite of passage either that or wading through brick meadow when it's gotten wet.

I agree his biggest mistake has been letting the wage bill get a bit out of control, which is something he seems to be addressing, however we are still a PL club and the plans to build the new stand are genuine and only really being held up by technicalities. This is probably frustrating to everyone involved but ultimately the club's status and value will be a lot higher once it's built.

The reason that CPFC2010 were the only players back then is because any investor would've realised how much money was needed to rebuild the ground, and as a Championship club it was simply not a viable risk. The job he has done since taking that risk really is outstanding, despite all the criticism he gets.
I completely agree and am a big fan of Parish. I was simply portraying perhaps a cynical view of the current situation and appreciate that it is far easier to comment with little to no experience of the situation and when your own money is not on the line.

However, I still believe that the two points, given the timing of the announcements at the time and those that have followed still are still relevant

This was all known years ago but the council have already given the green light for the development to go ahead so this would have all been discussed and agreed, hence the big announcement by the club two years ago (or whenever it was)

Now here we are with another minimum 1 year delay, which seems ridiculous when the development was already granted

All Palace fans are now bored of the talk I think we can agree, 9 years stadium talks have dragged on. Not a shovel in sight.

Proposed Norwood Junction redevelopment
Network Rail were trying to justify the club contributing towards redevelopment of Norwood Junction as part the stadium development planning application but the club quite rightly insisted that these 2 developments were independent of each other and the changes to Norwood were part of a major realignment of tracks and accessibility that would have to happen even if the club was not there.

I guess you could argue that accessibility beyond a normal level due to football crowds could theoretically be contributed to, but even then it's the train company that gets that extra ticket revenue. If anything the club needs to work with the train companies to encourage more people to use them, reducing the car impact, but no way should we get involved in paying for infrastructure improvements, we've got enough problems paying for our own.

Are you planning on digging one? If you are then perhaps you could connect it to the old duck pond near Kingswood in Hamsey Green? I could canoe there then. Thanks in advance

Providing a reliable service that can cope with demand would appeal to many fans, and this is not the responsibility for the club.

Several of my group come by train and there were numerous occasions last season when engineering works meant there was either no service, or a limited one. They were having to travel very early to guarantee arriving on time, especially as a couple of them struggle with standing on a crowded train.

When fans have complained, the answer is that engineering works have to 1) take place on weekends so that the commuter routes arenít affected on weekdays and 2) planned well ahead of the football fixtures.

So, Palace and Palace fans are not a priority. Unless that changes, for the biggest matches at least, we shouldnít cough up for station improvements. Makes no difference to our fans if their trains arenít even running to that station on the day we want them!

I donít buy into the excuse that engineering works are booked 18 months in advance. the club , train company and whoever arranges the seasons fixtures should all work together and insure that palace play away when engineering works affects any of the three stations near the ground. Never used to be a problem and the train companies also arranged away football specials

More chance of Simon Jordan buying the ground than Parish doing up the main stand.

Interesting in reading my old copy of Rothmans football yearbook 1971-72 a diary of the 70-71 season mentions in August 1970 that Palace had plans to build a double decker stand by 1975 maybe if we hadnít slid down to the third tier by then the stand may have been built. To view the link you have to Register or Login
