It's a toss up between Leandre Griffit and Bobby Mimms for me.

Sir Stevie C is my number one. But he managed Br****on. The fact of the matter is, he managed them. No statue for that reason

If I had to vote for a person, then I'm thinking Geoff Thomas. Fantastic captain, role model off the pitch, and I have a soft spot for him. Friends encouraged me to watch Palace to see Wright & Bright, but the more I watched that season, the more I felt it was Thomas who led the team and embodied the spirit that took everyone on a brilliant journey.
Otherwise, I'd vote for an eagle, maybe modelled on Kayla. Something really striking and majestic. People will always have contrary views about whatever person we chose, but the eagle would appeal to everyone. |

Anyway, statue should either be Edmund Goodman or Jim Cannon, but I also think a nod to Side-o and Len Chatterton would be nice as they are Palace legends in their own right. |

Absolutely agree, the man bled red and blue, what a pro.
If Warnock keeps us up this year though..... |

I'd say Edmund Goodman. Pretty sure he was involved in starting the club, coming from Villa as secretary along with spare kit, then manager and with the club for 25 years. Pretty much established Palace as a club.

If you're talking statues you've got to look at the entire history of the club, not just favourite players from a current lifetime. They'd have to be as indisputable and non-contentious as possible.
ie. who has given outstanding service to Palace and/or advanced the club through their actions? I would list out on this criteria: Edmund Goodman Peter Simpson Arthur Wait Malcolm Allison Jim Cannon Steve Coppell Geoff Thomas as captain of our greatest ever side and if they come through on rebuilding the club and stadium CPFC2010 - but not in current day of course. |
