Despite my dislike of Verstappen and taking in to account my minimal knowledge of F1, he seems one hell of a driver. Straight in to P1, and seems so much better than teammates in the same car.

Just Stop Oil has confirmed it was them. Whilst I have some sympathy with their cause, to do that is f***ing idiotic.
I hope they did it because there was a red flag and weren't planning to do it whilst the race was going on. Otherwise I shudder to think what the consequences would have been. |

Alex has been transferred by helicopter to Coventry Hospital for precautionary checks following the opening lap incident. We will provide updates when available.

First time we’ve heard that winners’ anthem since Alonso?

Very nasty accident at the start. I feared for the worst, but thank goodness for today's safety features on the cars and at the circuit.
Pleased to see Sainz get his first win and glad Mercedes have made progress with their car. The second half of the season should be lively. As a side note Sam Ryder's National Anthem was a blast. Saw my first GP at Silverstone in 1963. The layout is very different now, but still a great place to watch cars being driven on the limit. |

Great race for a change this season. I worried when Sainz made his customary mistake to let Max through. Thought that was it, race over. Lewis drove brilliantly. Not quite sure how Pérez avoided a penalty, he 100% gained a position by going off the track. Very very strange stewarding. Could have done with Max retiring and LeClerc winning to make the championship more interesting. Hope Merc are back in it now as three teams battling will be interesting

I can't see from the imagery there's any other conclusion to draw.
If that was 10 years ago it would have been a fatality, period. |

Firstly Perez was able to stay ahead of LeClerc by cutting that corner; Hamilton passing was irrelevant to that simple fact. Secondly a corner or two later he was able to compound that advantage by passing Hamilton. The decision of the stewards should rightly be called into question.

Had that not been the case there may have been a very different result
