Give me St Maximin over him any day. St Maximin would be more expensive, but Thuram makes him look like the finished article.
I'm curious to see how Thuram gets on over there.

I think the reason our signings are so late in transfer windows is to save money on wages. If we bought players at start of June instead of in August and they were on 75k pw and we signed 4 players that's 2.4 mill per month. Waiting till August saves 5 mill

Any players from your other team surplus to requirements who might be decent for us? Tete? Traoré?

Yeah, course I did. But there's no actual rumours of signings so we have to banter each other in here. Gently of course.

It’s also worth mentioning that Chelsea were looking for £8m to loan Batshuayi at the start of the jan window. Pretty sure we picked him up for a £1m loan fee by waiting.

There is logic to holding off the early running and waiting to see who becomes available once the bigger teams get their main targets in

That was done to piss off Spurs, who were reported to be in for him.

It can work that way but if often results in last minute panic buys at higher prices. Sorloth is a good example.

Not logical when you lose a whole month of football bedding new players in year after year.

We never seem to learn. We always start every season so unprepared. We always wait until transfer deadline day or two days before the window closing to make signings to save a few quid! It then takes at least a month for these players to get up to speed by which time we are playing catch up. We still need to replace AWB, Puncheon, Sako, Ayew & Batshuayi. In my opinion last summer we did not replace Cabaye or Loftus-Cheek with the same or better quality. I know Kouyate and Meyer came in and although good players are not up the same level as Cabaye & RLC. Sadly I expect the same this summer with a relegation battle in store

I’m going for a loan for Gayle with sorloth going the other way and a Clyne loan.

You don’t think it might just be because the agent, player and selling club want to hold on to the very end to maximise the chance of getting the best deal possible?

Nearly all the deals done early are ones where buying clubs pay way over what a player’s worth.

I can’t understand these reports of no money for transfers surely we must have £15-25m of the awb money to re invest in the team ?

Loosing upto twelve points at the beginning of the season due to bedding in players costs us more than 2.4 million. Can’t imagine this is the case if it is it’s verg short sighted.

In spite of all of the rumours linking Palace with loads of players I don't think that we have actually been interested in any of the players mentioned and no bids have actually been made at this stage.

Clubs know that Palace have money to spend and so will raise their prices for their players.

Championship clubs have to maximise the transfer fees that they charge to clubs with money to make up for the gap in finances between the leagues.

Due to Palace's financial position of trying to reduce the wage bill and living within their means I cannot see them making any big signings in this transfer window without further investment and they will likely look at the loan market and free agents to replace the players that have left.

Blame FFP spending limits not Palace's owners as even if they wanted to splash the cash they are limited in what they are allowed to spend on players and their wages.
