4. We can offer instant adulation if that is what he craves, just sign the contract.

5. We can offer career longevity with a better prospect of a continuing upward curve. No dip, like currently being witnessed in Walcott, Routeledge and many, many others.

Sounds alright to me!
Yea, but Chelsea can offer him 5k, 10k, 50k or even more a week. They can also offer him a signing on fee, let's say for a million, they can offer his Dad a 100k a year scouting job. Sadly, money talks, always has and always will.

I do basically agree with you, and I hope that he does sign, but when you see the likes of Scannel getting fist team action that involves a fair degree of hoof and hope, and being shouldered off the ball by some neanderthal Championship left back, you have to wonder whether a player of rare talent who will sooner or later get Premiership action, might best be able to develop their skills to their own strengths rather than their team's weaknesses

Could we not give his dad a similar position, obv for less money, with like a 2million contract release clause?

This is exactly why money has ruined football. If Bostock leaves for Chelsea it will be yet another nail in English Footballs coffin.

Becaus we will still be 2 million up, which is a very nice sum of money. If he's going to go, we might aswell try and get as much money out of him as possible.

You are right, but, in the end our best youngsters are likely to leave unless Palace can quickly become a top club.

In football terms I have great admiration for Steve Bull. He could have gone to any of the top clubs in Europe, let alone England, yet he chose to stay with his beloved Wolves and because of that he never got to play in the top division with Wolves, who if I am correct got promoted the season he retired.

Ready Teddy is playing for a contract
If he does not want to sign, then sell him. All the other kids have signed, so why don't he?

Because:-

a. He is at least a year younger and he is not being offered a pro contract which is what the others have signed but a scholarship contract

b. Until he has signed Palace cannot sell him as they have nothing to sell. If he signs for someone else then Palace would be entitled to compensation decided on by a Tribunal but it would be entirely his decision as to who he signs for.

There is an entirely unsustantiated rumour on the Hol that he is hanging on to see if we are promoted or not - I hope that isn't true as I would have hoped that he would at least have done a Walcott and signed before going and thus made the club a nice wodge as a thank you.

Most other clubs with a really promising youngster lose them long before they make the 1st team now.....Arsenal youth team that lost to Palace on Saturday had a number of other sides best young players that they had paid between 200k and 700k for including Freeman from Gillingham, a Norweigan lad and Bartley, a centre back signed from Bolton.

When I first started going to Palace in the 70's, any side with a promising youngster would get a couple of seasons worth of 1st team games from them before a big club signed them. This was because even big teams only had 18 man squads as only allowed 1 sub and income discrepancy between the divisions was not massive like it is now.

It has been the case for a number of years already that any club with a really promising youngster loses them before they make any or just a handful of 1st team games. Why should we be any different?

Unfortunately, the rumour has come from a massively reliable person

I have seen he is pretty reliable but some of it seem to be deduction and clever guessing and he did get something very wrong a little while ago so it is not certain. Even if he thinks that is right it can only be passing on hearsay and in any event without knowing exactly what the alternatives are it does not mean that JB would not sign if we did not go up - it might mean he would simply sign a different agreement with different terms.

I am totally against this, but, maybe Palace need to approach one of the big teams with a proposal. Bostock signs for the big team, Palace get a reasonable compensation and then Palace get Bostock back on loan for say 3 seasons in a row?

So a 16 year old who has played a matter of minutes for the club is apparently waiting to see if we are promoted to the Premiership before deciding whether to sign a professional contract, it beggars belief.
There is no disputing this kid has exceptional talent but surely he must realise the best thing for his career is a full season on the pitch in the Championship rather than a full season in the reserves and in the stands for any one of the Premiership teams he could sign for and that includes us if we are promoted.

If Bostock signs for Chelsea i'll lose all faith in football. Man U, Arsenal or maybe even Liverpool I could stomach, but Chelsea would be the worst option.

They have, to date, a fantastic record of completely buggering the development of some of the most promising English youngsters we had.

For the sake of any ambition you have John, don't go to Chelsea!

If I were his agent its exactly what I would do too. Premier football, premier contract, good chance of playing first team - unlike at Chelsea and similar, then if it pans out - a big money move. Bostock is just doing what virtually any footballer is doing, letting his agent (hopefully) look after his best interests. Thats life.

Really? Just like every other home grown player has got? I'm sure Routledge, Watson, Soares, Mullins etc thought the same.

What happens if he has a poor game and he doesn't live up to the hype in every single game. I'm sure there will be a lot of of fans who quickly learn to not love him.

Lets get this right here, its all about the individuals application

Joe Cole went to Chelseas and was floundering, worked his nuts off applied himself and is now one of the frst names down for club and country, SWP has done similar.

Players like Glenn Johnson didn't, Steve Sidwell is trying

Just because you sign for a big club doesn't mean its the end of English football for gods sake, so many dramatic comments on here its unreal

If Bostock does go then thats his choice, its not Chelseas fault or any of the other big clubs, all they are doing is what we do to the Rotherhams and Grimsbys of this world

If they are good enough they will play, simple
