Yeah, poor choice of words from me, what I meant was would he be interested in coming to a club that is odds on for relegation, and also won't pay silly wages for him?

If we got him at reasonable wages it would be a great signing, but lets face it, that won't happen.

Of all the British strikers around Bent is probably the most money focused - all his moves have been for money and not football - do not believe he would be a fit for our group of players.

wouldn't rule it out - would be very surprising if we actually got him though

There's a World Cup around the corner, I'm not sure he played in South Africa, but maybe he's realised he wants to play in a major tournament and needs guaranteed starts, and there aren't many available spots for that in the Prem

Yeah - we are shopping alongside bigger clubs. I would expect him to go to a more established team though.

Just puts a bit of a mockery on the whole we'll do a Norwich.

Indeed we seem to be looking at the sort of targets QPR would have gone for.

Dobbie, KP. Gayle, Grandin, Thomas, Campana??

None would have been on their radar. The art in the PL is balancing investment with some higher profile gambles - which is what we seem to be doing. Far closer to Swansea & Norwich than QPR.

Undisclosed fee for one of the young stand out championship players. Did well for them in the Premiership.

We aren't spending QPR money on them though... Samba, Remy, Bosingwa, Tel Ben Haim, Granero. They all cost them about 200% too much. It's hardly QPR targets is it? Should be flattered as a club that players who have scored international goals and champions league goals are even considering playing for us. They are hardly washed up donkeys.

Id agree with Gayle and Campana. Look like top signings. The sort we should make.

Dont remember Norwich or Swansea making too many high profile/wages gambles?

QPR picked.up a few....

Yes but a championship player who had excelled and was ready for a crack of the premiership unlike Bent who is always injured sitting on 60k a week. It's not the money I am bothered about, its the type of player.

If we managed to bring in Darren Bent, Chamakh, Granqvist, and Parker, then that would change us from relegation candidates to a mid-table side.

So, an international striker who's a proven goalscorer in the premiership isn't the type of player we should be going for?

As far as I'm aware, he hasn't been injured, he has just been dropped by Villa (understandably considering how good Benteke is)

Benteke and Andreas Weimann were on fire last season (unlike the rest of the Villa team) and Bent fell out of favour with Lambert. Are there any articles or anything about him having a 'bad attitude' or is it just fans of his previous clubs not really knowing what they're talking about?

But what I am saying is it is not the model that SP had set out in the first place. Say we went down, and he is on 40k and we were unable to get rid of him, then what? These are the sort of signings I'd rather us not make IMO.
