I agree that he's not quick enough to be the main man leading the attack in the prem.
But he scores.
Yeah let's hang on to everyone that maybe of some value in the champ but no value in the PL.

Does anyone have the feeling that Murray won't return in Jan?

He missed a penalty for Reading at the weekend, and they lost 1-0. Atkins was trying to play things down in the local freebie paper this week, as apparently there was some discussion on the pitch as to who should take the kick. Murray won the argument and took the ball, as it was him who'd been fouled in the first place.

Ok, fair enough but my point is that with the players we have and the pace out wide and the sit back absorb pressure and then counter attack tactics we use where does he fit in.
Workrate, pressure, pace and an ability to defend at an intensity without the ball is not in his make up.
Don't see a reason to hang on to him if we go down and play similar tactics in the champ.

I would really hope we wouldn't sit on the edge of our own box and let the other side have 75% possession if we went down....

The main reason to hang onto him is firstly we havent got a replacement.

Chammers is going to play in the hole and we have one spot up top, but quite often we will find ourselves 1-0 down and will need to thrown on forwards.
This is when our tactics change and we have to gun it.
This is where Murray's value will be proven.

Secondly he's different to what we have. Gayle, FC and AJ are all similar poachers and AJ wont play.
Doyle has been playing in the championship and league 1 so who knows if he's up to it.

Putting aside Muarrys injury he knows how to score and was brilliant for us in the championship but is still unproven at this level.

If you picked one out of him, AJ and Doyle he'd win every time in my eyes.

So fine to loan him out and get playing but we should keep him because in the 3 games or whatever he's played for Reading he's proven his worth.

Fair point but I did say similar.
Just don't see a reason to hang on to a player that's given his all for us but has next to no chance of playing prem football. He wants to play and play regularly. What chance here?

I agree with this. Murray has no starting place with us. He doesn't have the pace to play the nippy forward on the break (gayle), he doesn't suit the no 10 role (chamakh) or the bustling hard worker to give us an outlet against the top sides (formerly Jerome)

He is, as you say something different. Once we are behind have to go forward rather than playing on the break he has a place. The old no. 9 when chasing the game and pushing up. He is suited and good enough for this and us

The problem is him. He wants games, specifically starts it seems. Maybe when back after a run of games he will be happy coming off the bench if we are chasing games but for now it seems he wants to start. Who could blame him. If he's happy to come back to the bench then great lets keep him if we don't replace him but if he wants to go.... We really should let him for both us and him and finding a replacement becomes a must

I don't know why people continue to think that he may come back, it will be made permanent in January.

Why have our owner and manager said in interviews that the loan is for Glenn to get game-time and will be reviewed in January and yet some sources are saying that it will be made permanent.

Personally Glenn and Dwight were building a partnership and showed signs pre-season and at Walsall that it was developing and Murray to Reading makes no sense to me at all.

We badly missed Glenn's presence last night when we had so obviously a definite lack of height in the team and nobody to win flick-ons or hold the ball up like Glenn does so well.

Palace should hold him to his contract and bring him back in January, regardless to what he or Reading want.

You simply cannot tell your employer what to do when you have obligations to them and are a contracted employee.
