If this is true, which I doubt at present, then this would show serious ambition. Cabaye is an absolute quality player. Best player I saw at selhurst in our first season back. Would certainly help us know up a level.

Can he score more goals than Puncheon or Chamakh from his box-to-box midfield role?
He is a creative midfielder, not a Striker. What he would bring though is a new dimension to our play in midfield with flair and guile, also creating opportunities for others to finish off, and if he can contribute with say 6/8 goals excellent.
I am sure with a midfield of Jedinak as sole holding midfielder, along with Cabaye and either McArthur Or Mutch in a midfield 3, allows the scope for Chamakh to play the lone striker role if need be. With a well balanced and fluid clever midfield it gives Chamakh a role he would relish with his outstanding allround ability.
You may ask where does Puncheon fit in? well he would slot into his most effective role imo, that's playing behind the main striker. And should Bolasie unfortunately leave (if HE chooses to) I would give Zaha the free wandering wing role.

Yep.
If we ever buy a Cabaye/Mata player we need to play him in the hole with a unit of a striker

So, your team, were we to sign Cabaye, is:

---------------Jedinak------------------
-----Cabaye--------------Mcarthur
---------------Puncheon----------------
Zaha--------Chamakh-----------------

With Zaha in a free role?
