Another Defoe, scores regularly wherever he plays. Got another 3 years in him at least.

20 appearances last season for Chelsea. Same as Dwight Gayle and 4 less than Connor Wickham.

For 7m, he ticks a lot of boxes. He's the right side of 30, recent French international squad player and a good calibre player with Prem experience. Definitely an upgrade on some of our outgoing players.

Wonder what his wages are 50-60kish?? If near that he would fit with one of our top earners and not raise the wage bracket too high or raise eyebrows of other players too much (wage wise).

I think he would make a good addition to our squad and show good ambition and progress as we continue to upgrade and solidify our premier league team.

I think you'll find he's on twice that. And Fenerbahce will probably be offering similar. That's why Drogba went to Turkey ... Then to China. To trouser as much money as he possibly could

Loic Remy

Wow, I thought he was on a decent prem wage but I didn't think he'd be in 120k a week after moving from QPR to Chelsea...I don't think we'd pay that in wages for him. If he was younger with resale value, maybe but if we are interested, the club might not see it as good value. Have to see what happens.

Yes. It has to be only 1 of those. One of those, Wickham and one other (Gayle for me had he of stayed) is enough considering we aren't in Europe and only usually play 1 upfront.

We need at least two strikers this window.... Gayle and Adebayor gone. We can't rely on just Wickham + 1 as 1 injury means no striker on the bench. And as far as I'm concerned Campbell shouldn't be in the 25.

I am a fan of Remy, he has pace good movement and is more than capable of scoring 15 goals a season if given the service, other than his age what is there not to like about him? and not forgetting he could be bought at a very sensible fee, and if a sensible wage can be arranged then for me he makes a very good signing.
What is more important is he would be capable of playing alongside or just behind Wickham if the situation calls for, unlike Benteke a very much more expensive alternative but also who's styles would clash. As we need to bring in another TWO strikers, my personal choice would be Remy and would add Danny Ings either bought or on a 12 month loan, that then allows us funds to strengthen in other needy areas which is a must without breaking the bank.
We must always remember we are CPFC even with our wealthy American partners there are limitations to our spending unlike Man City, so a sensible long term strategy is needed.

Good call on Ings in particular. The kind of intelligent footballer we need and could function as a badly -needed 10 for us. Would be delighted with Remy but no chance really.

Can i ask why you think there is no chance with Remy, just curious?
For starters he does not figure for Chelsea, and with a new manager possibly wanting his own men surely will tell him he needs to move on if he wants regular football. He is 30 yrs old which restricts his club options, he knows AP and his methods and will be given a fair crack, so i don't see any reason why he would not want to join especially with the ambition we are now showing.
Having said all of that, i now feel Pardew with a big treasure chest offered by the Board to work with has seen the opportunity to try higher so probably Benteke will be the choice. But as i said in my original article, we need players that's more flexible in their style of play and able to interchange and Palace not be too one dimensional, and if we had say Wickham, Remy and Ings that gives us far greater flexibility and a combination of any of those if needed, would work.

Everyone would have been all over this one in the last window . Why not now at a good price? We could sign him and Berahino for a lot less than the cost of Benteke

apart from hardly playing, going for Benteke and ending up with Remy is simply the upgraded version of going for Charlie Austin and getting Frazer Campbell
